M.A. Littler products
M.A. Littler's films have been described as a strange cocktail of European auteur cinema, intellectualism, rock 'n' roll and an idiosyncratic sense of melancholy. Littler's films and writing merge the intellectual and the primitive and display an unhidden affinity for outsiders of all kinds. When asked about this, Littler says: "I'm interested in people who dance to their own beat, prototypes who fix their radio with a blow torch." These prototypes can be found in Littler's documentaries about the Rock 'n' roll underground "Voodoo Rhythm - The Gospel of Primitive Rock 'n' Roll" and "The Dead Brothers - Death Is Not The End" and "ZOWNIR - Radical Man", a portrait of controversial photographer, filmmaker and crime novelist Miron Zownir. Within the last four years Littler devoted himself to the existentialist film noir road movie "The Road to Nod", and the semi-documentary feature film "The Folk Singer - A Tale of Men, Music & America," in which he deals with men, the blues and "the dying old America". Slowboat's latest effort "The Kingdom Of Survival", an interdisciplinary documentary/road movie, is currently in production. One of Littler's stylistic trademarks, is his strict minimalism and slow rhythm, which separate his work from the over-inflationary imagery of contemporary cinema.
