Author: Jon Lyus

The wonder La La Land has just been released in UK cinemas, and the festival darling has already won its share of 2017’s awards with more surely to come. One of the main reasons of the success of the film is the excellent cast director Damien Chazelle has assembled for his love letter to cinema. Emma Stone has had a fine career of late, with some very interesting choices in her future. Her chemistry with her La La Land co-star Ryan Gosling is essential to the power of the film, and in this interview she opens up about her journey to that magical destination.

Hayley Donaghy sat down with the actress recently to talk about her early days as an actress, her influences and who inspired her to be an actor. Stone also talks about who she looks up to in comedy, a skill for which she

“La La Land” is a modern classic and one of the best films in a long time

How often does a film positioned as a Best Picture frontrunner early on live up to the hype? Especially considering the rapturous festival praise for the movie, it would be understandable for Damien Chazelle’s La La Land to feel slightly overrated. And yet, somehow, this is perhaps still underrated, as it’s an out and out modern classic. This week, it hits theaters and is an absolute must see. I’ll say it…this is a perfect film. There’s good reason why this is the one to beat in Best Picture. Depending on how things go, this could waltz its way straight to a number of Oscar wins with little trouble. It truly deserves it too. The film is a modern day musical, set in Los Angeles. It follows struggling actress Mia (Emma Stone) and struggling jazz pianist Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) as they meet (and meet again), fall in love,

Damien Chazelle’s La La Land Dazzles With Behind-The-Scenes Featurette

If Whiplash served up a blistering assault on the senses two years ago, director Damien Chazelle is cooking up a much more intimate viewing experience with La La Land, an Oscar-tipped musical drama about two struggling artists trying to catch a break in the cutthroat world of Hollywood.

On board to play those down-on-their-luck characters – namely Mia and Sebastian – are Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, the impossibly attractive duo that energized Crazy, Stupid, Love with their at-times effortless chemistry five years ago. With La La Land, Stone and Gosling will be embarking on a more dramatic journey as they pursue their artistic dreams.

Mia, for instance, wants to crack into Hollywood’s acting scene, but has so far amassed a streak of forgettable auditions, while Sebastian is a soon-to-be-unemployed jazz artist circling the brink of a creative crisis. Where Chazelle’s feature blossoms into life is the scenes in which

It feels like we’ve been harping on about La La Land for months now, and well we have, but it will still be nearly two more month before Damien Chazelle‘s glorious musical throw-back love story enters cinemas. We pray for every success for this fantastic motion picture which reunites Ryan Gosling with Emma Stone for two hours of absolute bliss.

Lionsgate are releasing the film in the UK and they have just dropped a brand new La La Land UK trailer which made me well up all over again as I watched it a couple of minutes ago… in a packed cafe in central London.

La La Land Trailer Hits – You’re New Favorite Movie Is Here

They probably don’t know it yet, but a fairly significant percentage of movie fans are about to change their list of favorite films. On December 2nd (going wide on the 16th), a movie is heading to theaters that has the potential to move into a realm of its own, in much the way that Once simply changed the game.

La La Land follows a couple (Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone) that will at least make people take some notice, and they have proven they can deliver, but the real sell here is writer/director Damien Chazelle. Perhaps not the biggest sell in terms of rushing out to pre-order tickets, but the biggest sell in terms of expectations that this will be one of the best films of the year.

Chazelle may not have dozens of films behind him, but with Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench, Grand Piano,

La La Land Trailer #2 Has Emma Stone Singing a New Song
'Here's to the fools that dream!' The magical musical La La Land soars towards a heightened version of Los Angeles that will have you nostalgic for the colorful comedies of the 50s and 60s. Only this one is set firmly in a modern day Los Angeles. The second La La Land trailer has arrived, which debuts the new song Audition, performed by none other than star Emma Stone herself.

We also have new 'cover art' for La La Land, which is basically a movie poster that looks like the cover of an old soundtrack album from a bygone era. It features stars Emma Sone and Ryan Gosling walking through stage doors into a dreamy blue like state of consciousness. The new single Audition will be available later this fall, but we don't have a drop date at this time.

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone make us swoon as “La La Land” drops a luminous Teaser Trailer

If you saw my predictions late last week, you saw that I’m very high on La La Land, the upcoming modern musical from Damien Chazelle. This high concept romance is his follow up to the Oscar winning film Whiplash, so it’s clear that this movie has clear Academy Award hopes. Not only is it my perceived frontrunner right now, it’s just one of the 2016 releases to be most excited about this fall. A few days ago, a Teaser Trailer was released, and boy does it look absolutely delightful. You’ll see that Trailer below (and hear some of the original song City of Stars), but in the meantime, I want to whet your appetite a bit for La La Land… The flick is, again, a musical, with original songs, capturing the old time Hollywood spirit but in a completely new story. It follows a jazz pianist in
