They probably don’t know it yet, but a fairly significant percentage of movie fans are about to change their list of favorite films. On December 2nd (going wide on the 16th), a movie is heading to theaters that has the potential to move into a realm of its own, in much the way that Once simply changed the game.
La La Land follows a couple (Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone) that will at least make people take some notice, and they have proven they can deliver, but the real sell here is writer/director Damien Chazelle. Perhaps not the biggest sell in terms of rushing out to pre-order tickets, but the biggest sell in terms of expectations that this will be one of the best films of the year.

"Here's to the hearts that ache..." Oh my goodness. Lionsgate has unveiled the second official teaser trailer for Damien Chazelle's musical La La Land, and it's just as wonderful as the first one. La La Land stars Emma Stone as an aspiring actress who falls for a jazz pianist, played by Ryan Gosling, while in the City of Angels, better known as Los Angeles. Like the first teaser, this trailer is set to one of the magnificent songs from the film, titled "Audition", and it will thankfully be available to download later this fall. The full cast includes J.K. Simmons, Finn Wittrock, Rosemarie DeWitt, Sonoya Mizuno, Hemky Madera, Josh Pence and John Legend. That scene in the planetarium looks like it's going to be so totally amazing. 'Here's to the fools that dream!' The magical musical La La Land soars towards a heightened version of Los Angeles that will have you nostalgic for the colorful comedies of the 50s and 60s. Only this one is set firmly in a modern day Los Angeles. The second La La Land trailer has arrived, which debuts the new song Audition, performed by none other than star Emma Stone herself.
We also have new 'cover art' for La La Land, which is basically a movie poster that looks like the cover of an old soundtrack album from a bygone era. It features stars Emma Sone and Ryan Gosling walking through stage doors into a dreamy blue like state of consciousness. The new single Audition will be available later this fall, but we don't have a drop date at this time.
If you saw my predictions late last week, you saw that I’m very high on La La Land, the upcoming modern musical from Damien Chazelle. This high concept romance is his follow up to the Oscar winning film Whiplash, so it’s clear that this movie has clear Academy Award hopes. Not only is it my perceived frontrunner right now, it’s just one of the 2016 releases to be most excited about this fall. A few days ago, a Teaser Trailer was released, and boy does it look absolutely delightful. You’ll see that Trailer below (and hear some of the original song City of Stars), but in the meantime, I want to whet your appetite a bit for La La Land… The flick is, again, a musical, with original songs, capturing the old time Hollywood spirit but in a completely new story. It follows a jazz pianist in »

"City of stars, are you shining just for me...?" Lionsgate has unveiled the first fantastic trailer for Damien Chazelle's new Los Angeles-set musical La La Land, and it's so totally wonderful. I love everything about this and can't wait to see it. Ryan Gosling stars as a jazz pianist who falls for an aspiring actress, played by Emma Stone, in the City of Angels. There's lots of singing and dancing and it all fills me with such joy because this is the next film from Chazelle, who blew everyone away with Whiplash. The full cast includes J.K. Simmons, Finn Wittrock, Rosemarie DeWitt, Sonoya Mizuno, Hemky Madera, Josh Pence and John Legend. This is one of those stop-what-you're-doing and watch this right now kind of trailers. Here's the first official trailer for Damien Chazelle's La La Land, originally from EW.com: The song heard in the trailer, titled "City »

La La Land tells the story of Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring actress, and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.
Original musicals are a tough sell, but combined with A-list actors Stone and Gosling, helmed by Chazelle and a Los Angeles setting, AMPAS voters will flip for this type of film.

If the trailer is anything to go on, we’re in for a bit of a treat here. Here’s the synopsis.
Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring actress, serves lattes to movie stars in between auditions and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a jazz musician, scraps by playing cocktail party gigs in dingy bars, but as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to frail the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.
The film will be released in the Us on December 2nd, and the United Kingdom in early 2017 on January 17th. »

Kitsch premiered the short film at the 2014 Palm Springs International ShortFest. He played a man facing a massive gambling debt, forcing his best friend (played by Josh Pence) to navigate through the underworld in order to save him. The feature will follow three best friends in Detroit whose lives are forever changed when they intercept a drug run.
Berg directed the movie “Friday Night Lights” and then developed the NBC series of the same name, on which Kitsch starred as Tim Riggins for the five-season run. Berg and Kitsch also collaborated on the movies “Battleship” and “Lone Survivor,” on which Emmett was a producer. »
