Who are Jay and Mark Duplass? Well, if you haven't seen The Puffy Chair or Baghead yet, then you might as well hit Netflix and spend some time catching up this weekend. Not only are they great directors, but Mark Duplass has been trying his hand at acting, too, with a big role in the Sundance sensation Humpday. Fox Searchlight has picked up the pitch for their latest film, called Table 19, a half-comedy half-drama about the experiences of those wedding guests quarantined at the dreaded "singles table." Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy and Tom McNulty of 21 Laps will produce the ensemble comedy. The idea was originally based on Tom McNulty's stories from attending a good friend's wedding in England. Writer-directors Jay and Mark Duplass have sold their pitch "Table 19" to Fox Searchlight.
Based on McNulty's fish-out-of-water stories from attending a good friend's wedding in England, the dramedy describes the experience of those wedding guests quarantined at the dreaded "singles table." Told from the points of view of the strangers randomly thrown together, the story explores what marriage means to those on the sidelines.
"We had tried to crack this idea with several writers over the years, and we were always huge fans of Mark and Jay Duplass," McNulty said. "When they said they wanted it to be their next film to write and direct, we were thrilled."

Twentieth Century Fox will rely on Shawn Levy to figure out How to Talk to Girls , reports Variety . Last month the studio bought rights to the advice guide written by 9-year-old Alec Greven, and Levy will develop the project as a potential directing vehicle. He will produce it under his 21 Laps banner, with 21 Laps president Tom McNulty also to be involved in a producing capacity. Greven began writing the book as an advice guide to help third-grade classmates vexed by the opposite sex. What began as a pamphlet that sold for $3 has grown into a four-book series to be published by HarperCollins, which unveiled the first book in November. "The intention is to make a warmhearted comedy, with a tone reminiscent of 'Big,' " Levy said. »
