Humans Season 2 Review

11 February 2017 2:03 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Three episodes were provided prior to broadcast.

Can a human and a machine love one another? This is the question Humans dedicates itself to not only asking, but to asking in as many ways possible.

The show exists in a setting familiar to most science-fiction fans: a world in which lifelike humanoid machines populate society’s homes and businesses. Like the hosts of Westworld or the replicants of Blade Runner, they’re anatomically identical to humans and nearly blend in with humans. However, unlike hosts and replicants, the “Synths” of Humans do not think, trick, manipulate, feel or lie. That is, except for a select few – Niska, Mia, and a handful of others – who are disrupting expectations due to their “consciousness code.”

Creative England head of film steps down after four months

29 January 2017 11:00 PM, PST | ScreenDaily | See recent ScreenDaily news »

Exclusive: Brek Taylor departs in latest blow to UK funding agency.

Creative England’s head of film Brek Taylor is to leave the UK funding agency this week after four months in the role.

The former director and Film London executive was appointed at the end of September 2016 following the departure of Caroline Cooper Charles, who herself served only six months in the position.

Creative England confirmed the exit but declined to comment on the reason for Taylor’s departure or a succession plan.

The 45 Years and Notes On Blindness backer had been looking to build stability in 2017 following cuts to its film operation last year.

On revealing its five-year plan for film in November, the BFI described a “refocused” role for the agency and a review of its production services operation.

At the time the BFI confirmed that the valued agency would continue to deliver popular low budget movie scheme iFeatures, which produced »

‘Humans 2.0′ Review

20 January 2017 2:01 AM, PST | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

While I’ve known of Humans and how well the show was received, to my shame I never really watched it. When I got the chance to watch Humans 2.0 though, I decided to dive in and take it from the starting point of the second series. Through the catch-up I was able to pick-up on the importance of characters like Mia (Gemma Chan) and Leo (Colin Morgan) and the situation they were in now. With the initial focus on Niska (Emily Berrington) though at the start of the season, she soon became my favourite Synth.

If you’ve seen any British television or movies in the past few years, you’ll know why Humans 2.0 stands out. With the likes of Ruth Bardley, Neil Maskell, and Katherine Parkinson in the cast this is impressive, then add Carrie-Anne Moss and this takes the cast to an even higher level.

Carrie-Anne Moss and her character Dr. »
