Sherry Locher is an American television and film actress of English, Irish, Welsh and Swiss-German heritage, born in a small suburb of Detroit, Michigan. Her father was a local jazz musician and bandleader known by his middle name John "Clarke" Locher and her mother was a one time teen model named for her parents' favorite actress, Carole Lombard. Her paternal great Aunt was composer Frances Locher whose work is held in the Library of Congress.
While in high school, Sherry was a member of the professional actors troupe at the Attic Theater in Detroit and was the on-camera host of an arts showcase program on a local cable station in Southfield, MI. She earned her BA in Theater & Drama from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor on full academic scholarship as both a National Merit Scholar and Michigan Competitive Scholar. Sherry taught theater and dance classes at a Detroit-area women's prison while at college. This experience, along with her parents charitable work in which she took part, helped inform her longtime commitment to volunteerism. Today, Sherry focuses her volunteer efforts within the veterans' community.
Sherry moved to NYC after college to pursue an acting career and immediately earned a spot to study with the legendary Uta Hagen at HB Studio. She soon landed her first leading Off-Broadway role at The Actors Playhouse, and to earn roles in television, film, commercials and voice-over work. In addition to acting, Sherry is a busy commercial print model.
Sherry co-created and co-produced her two-time Best Comedy-nominated web series "Smart Actress", earning her first SAG producer credit.
