Ask and You Shall Receive: Burnett’s Adaptation Buoyed By Arresting Performances

Landing somewhere on a spectrum of unraveling female adolescent prototypes that plays like one part Evan Rachel Wood in Pretty Persuasion mixed with two parts Thirteen is Katie Kampenfelt, the heroine of director and novelist Allison Burnett’s latest feature, Ask Me Anything. Adapted from his own novel, Undiscovered Gyrl, his vanilla retitling doesn’t quite sit properly atop his intriguing, if sometimes baffling venture into the psyche of a superficially maladjusted teenage girl, instead sounding like a title you’d expect to grace the NeNe Leaks story. An intriguing, if sometimes questionable supporting cast rally splendidly around a noticeable central performance from Britt Robertson, often making up for the film’s tonal missteps to become a surprisingly entertaining indie feature that will have a hard time rising above the tethers of its mediocre packaging.

First Look at Jurassic World’s “D-Rex” in Lego Form

17 November 2014 7:22 AM, PST | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

One of the major things that has been teased for Colin Trevorrow’s upcoming Jurassic World is a terrifying new dinosaur that will be introduced to audiences. Before I go on I’m going to throw out a Spoiler warning because we get into some details on this beast as well as some leaked photos from Lego that give us our first look.

There’s a report that this dino is a crossbreed of a T-Rex, raptor, snake, and cuttlefish. The director has confirmed that this is true. The result is a red-eyed dino with translucent skin. One of the dinosaur consultants on the film, Jack Horner, teased the beast in an interview, saying that we'll want to "keep the lights on" after seeing it.

This new dinosaur is called a D-Rex, and it really does look like it could be one hell of a badass beast. You can get »

Colin Trevorrow might be done filming Jurassic World, but he's still tweeting cool pictures of props from the upcoming movie.

Jurassic World is set to hit theaters in 2D, 3D and IMAX on June 12, 2015. The movie stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Jake Johnson, Nick Robinson, Irrfan Khan, Vicent D'Onofrio, Bd Wong, Omar Sy, Judy Greer, Katie McGrath, Lauren Lapkus and Andy Buckley.

The sci-fi flick is set 22 years after the events in Jurassic Park. Here's a synopsis:

Unclear) as a means to fighting the threat."

Colin Trevorrow’s Latest Jurassic World Pic Teases Connection To Jurassic Park

22 September 2014 3:02 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

With shooting on the latest dino romp, Jurassic World, completed last month, the release of another pic from the set has got to make you wonder: how big is Colin Trevorrow’s Sd card?

Regardless of the gigabyte capacity, the snap leaked onto Twitter by the director himself is poised to make fans of the original sit up and take notice. And then consider the implications of an innocent photo. With the simple caption “Autumn”, this latest shot pays homage to a rrecognizablelocation from the first outing, a definite throwback to Steven Spielberg’s original 1993 flick, Jurassic Park.

Beneath a pile of crisp, golden leaves, a discarded sign which reads “East Dock” lays barely recognizable amidst the foliage. For fans of the first movie, you’ll remember the sequence in which the signage appeared. Review: 'The Bridge' - 'Eidolon'

10 September 2014 8:00 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Earlier today, I published an interview with "The Bridge" showrunner Elwood Reid about how great season 2 has turned out to be. Now I have a review of tonight's episode coming up just as soon as I throw in a pair of custom boots... There were times early in this season where I worried that the story was  becoming too big and diffuse. Marco and Sonya were only occasionally together and the entire ensemble (seemingly larger than ever) was scattered all over the map in stories that were vaguely linked to one another. Even though I was enjoying certain parts of the season (Frye and Adriana's investigation, or the compelling oddness of Franka Potente's work as Eleanor), the whole of it wasn't entirely working. But this second half of season 2 has been a powerful, thrilling reward for the slow and expansive first. Everything is moving faster now, and everything has »

Jurassic World Director Colin Trevorrow Pays Tribute to Lord Richard Attenborough

26 August 2014 11:38 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Following the sad passing of Lord Richard Attenborough, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow has revealed a new behind the scenes image which offers up a look at a statue of the character – John Hammond – he played in the first two Jurassic Park movies which were helmed by Steven Spielberg.

The legendary actor and director’s health had been failing for a number of years, so a cameo appearance in Jurassic World was always out of the question. It should be very interesting to see how Hammond is referenced in Jurassic World now, especially as the park has reopened and is actually a success now by all accounts.

Based on what we’ve heard so far about Jurassic World, it’s shaping up to be one of 2015′s best movies, and Colin Trevorrow is a promising young filmmaker who looks set to follow up some great lower budget Indies with a »

Film4 FrightFest 2014 Review – Show Pieces (2014)

23 August 2014 7:29 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Show Pieces, 2014

Written and directed by Mitch Jenkins

Starring Siobhan Hewlett, Darrell D’Silva, Robert Goodman, Andrew Buckley, Ella Smith, Deak Teaser, Khandie Khisses, Alan Moore

Synopsis:

Alan Moore and Mitch Jenkins bring a “trilogy of terror” featuring “Act of Faith”, “Jimmy’s End” and “His Heavy Heart”.

Comic book legend and famed adaptation hater Alan Moore teams with renowned photographer Mitch Jenkins to produce the surreal and darkly comedic “trilogy of terror”, Show Pieces. It’s a movie with such a morbid sense of humour and surreality that even The League of Gentleman might think it’s ‘a bit much’.

The three stories are all connected in some fashion, although the third part is a direct sequel to the second leaving the first part to be your “breadcrumbs of clues” as it cameos in the second story. It’s not exactly Pulp Fiction in its intricacies, but it is very subtle. »
