David Schwimmer Joins U.K. Sitcom ‘Morning Has Broken’

London — Former “Friends” star David Schwimmer is to join the cast of sitcom “Morning Has Broken,” which has been greenlit by U.K. broadcaster Channel 4.

Schwimmer will play an American producer brought in to try to save a floundering breakfast-time show, “Good Morning… with Gail Sinclair.” The role of the show’s host, the “Queen of Daytime,” is taken by Julia Davis, who co-wrote “Morning Has Broken” with Nick Mohammed. Mohammed will play one of Sinclair’s fellow anchors.

After eight years of high ratings and winning awards, things begin to go wrong for Sinclair when the program loses viewers and tensions break out within the production team.

Morning Has Broken” is due to air next year. It is produced by Gary Reich at Brown Eyed Boy, in association with Sony Pictures Television.

Davis, whose credits include “Nighty Night,” said she is “looking forward to experimenting with friends whose work I love. »

David Schwimmer is coming back to Friends' original UK home of Channel 4, as the actor has joined new sitcom Morning Has Broken.

The six-episode British comedy - airing in 2016 - centres around a failing breakfast TV show and comes from Julia Davis, who was behind BBC Three's Nighty Night and Hunderby on Sky Atlantic.

Schwimmer will play an American TV producer hired to rescue the breakfast show, which stars Davis herself as 'Queen of Daytime' Gail Sinclair.

Davis created Morning Has Broken alongside Nick Mohammed, who will portray one of Gail's co-presenters.

Rachel Springett, Channel 4's commissioning editor for comedy, said: "Julia is undoubtedly one of our most talented comedic writers and actresses and it's a testament to the quality of her writing that she can attract such a big star."

Henry Winkler's Hank Zipzer is returning for a second series on Cbbc

Hank Zipzer will be back for a second series of episodes on Cbbc in August, and a third series has already been commissioned.

The show is based on the New York Times best-selling book series Hank Zipzer: The World's Greatest Underachiever, which is co-written by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver.

It follows the adventures of 14-year-old Hank Zipzer, who has dyslexia and looks at the world differently to other people, causing problems with his school teachers Mr Love (Nick Mohammed) and Miss Adolf (Felicity Montagu), as well as his parents Rosa (Juliet Cowan) and Stan (Neil Fitzmaurice).

Winkler co-stars as music teacher Mr Rock, who understands and supports Hank.

Series two will see the arrival of new headteacher Mr Joy, played by Phone Shop's Javone Prince.
