The Duty of Living is a beautifully shot film (using, surprise, surprise, the Red One) that uses the standard zombie set-up to express an interesting allegory about civil vs. family duties. Of course, the two aren't ever mutually exclusive - particularly where the apocalypse is concerned - but the idea creates instant drama, which is exactly what a short film needs. Some of the acting is a little theatrical maybe, but the last glimpse of a chained up zombie is enough to pique our interest.
Synopsis:
The tragic tale of a family's quest for survival during a zombie apocalypse.
The Duty of living is Written & Directed by Brandon Hunt and produced by John Meredith. It stars Juan Riedinger, Jim Accomando, Wendy Wisely, George Retelas, Edward Hightower, and
Ken Fitzgerald. It's set for festival release in 2010.
