The beginning of Exists echoes those many other horror films set in the deep woods. Hapless folks encounter an unusual threat, likely after trespassing or offending the locals. And as this well-used formula commands, the characters then die in gruesome fashion. Eduardo Sánchez’s 2014 film is, admittedly, derivative of most body-count horrors with rural backdrops, yet it contains at least one novelty to set it apart: a Bigfoot. Hardly five minutes into this film and the young cast hits something on the road. As they assess the damage to their car and figure out what they struck, the characters get the sinking feeling that they are being watched from the nearby woods. Someone finally states the obvious: “That wasn’t no deer, bro.”
On average, found-footage horror films delay their strangeness in an effort to establish a semblance of normalcy. Make everything hypernormal and deliberately tedious so that the bizarre bits are more persuasive.

Bad Bromance. That’s an interesting title… You might not have heard it till the debut of this movie on DVD. Hang on though. Did anyone go and see The D Train in UK cinemas? I tried. It was screening once a day at a cinema 20 minutes drive away from me and only at 11pm every night. Talk about burying a movie. Maybe that’s why The D Train has been retitled Bad Bromance for its DVD release? Or maybe it’s because this “comedy” is anything but and the the reviews of the cinema release were less than stellar.

With his upcoming indie zombie drama Maggie opening in theaters on May 8, Arnold Schwarzenegger has released yet another clip on his Facebook page. This scene shows the actor's character Wade, trying to protect his daughter Maggie (Abigail Breslin) from a group of zombies. We know that Maggie eventually becomes infected by the undead at some point in this movie, but it isn't clear if that has happened yet in this scene.
Maggie tells the story of a deadly zombie virus that has put a plague on the world. When Maggie, a vivacious young woman becomes infected, her father brings her home to let her be with their family. As Maggie's condition worsens, their relationship is tested, a father's love holding on stronger than the disease. This heart-wrenching twist on the zombie apocalypse puts a human face on an inexplicable horror.

That notion is turned on it's head in The D Train, which finds the often boisterous comedian taking on the more reserved role of a former high school loser who never made it with the ladies. The Pictures Got Small: Sanchez Unwisely Revisits Found Footage
The co-director of 1999’s The Blair Witch Project, Eduardo Sanchez, returns to the fold of the found footage genre with Exists, replacing witches with Bigfoot, and a gaggle of clichéd ignoramuses that fail to stand out as anything other than slightly typified personalities. The fact that Sanchez’s film plays like one more forgettable entry in a cost effective indie genre is of significant note considering it was his original success that spawned a whole generation of mimicry, which he’s now become a part of himself. With nary an original flourish in its little brain, despite some fleeting moments of genuine creepiness, the distraction of its mechanics work as resolutely against its effectiveness like a majority of all films in this vein, wherein cameras stay indefatigably in action no matter the dangers faced, and obvious editing and musical cues interfere...

Chicago – Director Eduardo Sánchez has found one bizarre way to commemorate the rogue nature of his horror film “The Blair Witch Project” for its 15-year-anniversary - by crafting an analogously lesser movie with the very rulebook he defied in 1999. In turn, his new Bigfoot found footage film “Exists” becomes a minimal horror project for the GoPro camera era that doesn’t have much of a life of its own outside of its “Blair Witch Project” context.
Rating: 1.5/5.0
The text from the very beginning of the “Exists” clues audiences into the number of recorded sightings regarding Bigfoot, a statistic that could be as fudged as when “Blair Witch Project” actor Joshua Leonard was reported as “missing, presumed dead” on his IMDb page. On the cinematic calendar, the weeks preceding Halloween are often prime real estate for new horror outings. The spooky season has been proven (scientifically!) to increase a filmmaker’s chances of turning their low budget offering into a bona fide box office smash. But hey, it’s not like Eduardo Sanchez needs any pointers in that department, as one half of The Blair Witch Project team returns to found footage terror with Exists.
The tone and style of the movie look poised to recreate the atmospheric chills from Sanchez’s debut. Keeping the urban legend perspective, this time around a bunch of kids head into the Texan hills for a camping trip. We’ve all seen The Cabin In The Woods, which gloriously deconstructed this exact type of scenario, so it should come as no surprise that something terrifying befalls the group.

Okay, so the headline is a bit of a lie, at least when it comes to the trailer for the new found footage, Bigfoot horror film Exists from The Blair Witch Project co-director Eduardo Sanchez. But it's not a lie when it comes to the film's poster, which features a car killed by an uprooted tree. Exists, which is coming to theaters and iTunes on October 24, finds five friends on a weekend of camping in the Texas when they find out their uncle's cabin is a piece of sh*t and Bigfoot is stalking them. Found footage mayhem ensues, all captured in plenty of night vision. The cast -- Dora Madison Burge, Samuel Davis, Roger Edwards, Chris Osborn, Brian Steele, Denise Williamson -- is all newcomers, but that doesn't mean this won't be any good. This horror film fan knows director Eduardo Sanchez from this work on The Blair Witch Project (1999) and more recently on Lovely Molly (2011). Sanchez continues his horror streak with Exists. This title plays on a few horror tropes: several friends head off into the woods and find a monster. But, Sanchez is likely to work some surprises into this Bigfoot tale. And now, an early concept poster is available for Exists (left). Exists stars Dora Madison Bruge (Humans Versus Zombies), Brian Steele (Hellboy), Samuel Davis and Denise Williamson. A few of these actors will be pursued in the woods of Texas by an unnamed beast; but, there is a shocking truth behind this ancient myth. Exists is slated to show at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, California, beginning November 7th, 2013. This horror fan is expecting a trailer to be released for the film closer to this screening date. More...

While promoting their new movie Lovely Molly here at the San Diego Comic-Con we sat down briefly with producers Mark Ordesky and Jane Fleming, and director Ed Sanchez to get the skinny on the upcoming Bigfoot flick Exists.
Our main focus in Exists was the creature itself which was designed by Spectral Motion," says producer Fleming. "It's basically the kind of effects work you'd find in a big budget movie in our small scale film. Actor Brian Steele plays our creature and he is amazing."
Sanchez shot the film found footage style, his first film of the like since Blair Witch Project and we've been assured that in the movie the creature will be anything but out of focus and hidden. "The creature is front and center and you see a lot it," says Ordesky. "Fans of bigfoot movies are going to be really happy with what we've created."

Next thing Cherry knows, she is waking up in a hospital, horribly bruised. Because of her assailants' influence with the local law enforcement, they are able to avoid arrest. Once Cherry discovers that her aggressors will not be punished, she vows to kill them off one by one. Cherry's brother Brandon (John Rodriguez) joins her cause,...

Kyle Day’s first feature, Cherry Bomb, plays as an homage to the gritty and sexy grindhouse and sexplotation flicks of the early 1980s. The film’s protagonist, Cherry (Julin Jean), is an exotic dancer who is attacked by a group of men in the strip club where she works. When the hospitalized Cherry learns that her assailants have avoided arrest, she vows to kill them all and let god sort them out. Thanks to an impressive trailer that spread like wildfire throughout the blogosphere, Well Go USA Entertainment took notice and snagged the rights to release the Austin-filmed Cherry Bomb on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital. To celebrate the film’s official home video release on July 10, The Show! Austin is screening Cherry Bomb at the Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane. There will be a Q&A after the screening with director Kyle Day, writer-producer Garrett Hargrove and actors Julin Jean and Denise Williamson. Of...
