Pictures' "Red Riding Hood" thriller, starring Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, Lukas Haas, Virginia Madsen, Billy Burke, Julie Christie, Michael Shanks, Michael Hogan, Shiloh Fernandez and Chrisine Willes. Catherine Hardwicke, helmer for the first installment in the "Twilight" series of films, directs "Red Riding Hood" from the writing by David Johnson (writer of the eerie "Orphan"). The film takes place in a medieval village haunted by a werewolf. Here, a young girl falls for an orphaned woodcutter, much to the families disapproval. In what sounds reminiscently like The Village, Variety is reporting this morning that Virginia Madsen has joined the cast of Warner Bros.’ medieval thriller Red Riding Hood as the mother of Amanda Seyfried’s character.

Catherine Hardwicke is directing the supernatural thriller that also stars Lukas Haas, Shiloh Fernandez, Michael Shanks, Julie Christie and Gary Oldman. David Leslie Johnson (Orphan) wrote the script, which is set in a village haunted by a werewolf.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way banner is producing and he’s a producer along with Jennifer Davisson Killoran, Michael Ireland and Alex Mace. Red Riding Hood is scheduled to bow in theaters on March 11, 2011.

Virginia Madsen cast in Red Riding Hood It seems that the title character of a new Catherine Hardwicke film has found her on-screen mother. Variety is reporting that Virginia Madsen has signed on for a role in Red Riding Hood.

Madsen will play the mother of the lead character, who is being portrayed by Amanda Seyfried. She joins a cast that also includes Max Irons, Shiloh Fernandez, Gary Oldman, Julie Christie and Lukas Haas.

Catherine Hardwicke is directing the film from a script by David Johnson, which will me a gothic re-telling of Little Red Riding Hood where Seyfried's character is being hunted by a werewolf.

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is producing the film through his Appian Way production company, alongside Jennifer Davisson Killoran, Michael Ireland and Alex Mace.
