Bat For Lashes’ The Dream of Delphi music video from filmmaker Freddie Leyden – who last joined us here on Dn with Under the Skin of a Guild: Wake of Lost Souls, a movement based indictment of London Guildhall’s legacies of slavery and colonisation – combines 70s folk horror influences with surreal imagery and retro camera-trickery to invoke a palpable atmosphere of dreamlike ethereality. The video stars Bat For Lashes’ Natasha Khan as, initially, a lone figure, dressed in an eye-catching red dress, flowing and weaving her way through the mystifying electronic tones of the song. Bigfoot isn’t the only elusive cryptid in horror. Director Kourtney Roy‘s feature debut, Kryptic, centers around an amnesiac in pursuit of a missing cryptozoologist and the Canadian cryptid she was pursuing. Don’t expect a straightforward approach to this cryptid tale, though. Kryptic earns its title and then some, unfurling an esoteric psycho-thriller that uses its forest dwelling creature as an atypical monster metaphor.

The body of David Bird, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal who went missing over a year ago, has been recovered from the Passaic River in New Jersey. Bird was 55. A resident of Millington, New Jersey, Bird left his home for a walk on Jan. 11, 2014 and never returned.
