- Alex Prager (b. 1979, lives and works in Los Angeles) is an American director, artist and screenwriter. Her films have been defined by their distinctive visual and narrative styles. Prager's film, Despair, starring Bryce Dallas Howard was exhibited at MoMA as a part of the New Photography exhibit in 2010 alongside her photographs. Her film series Touch of Evil (2011), starring Brad Pitt, Gary Oldman, Michael Shannon, Jessica Chastain, George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Kirsten Dunst, Glenn Close, Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, Jean Dujardin, Viola Davis and Adepero Oduye, was commissioned by The New York Times Magazine won her an Emmy Award. Additionally, she has directed Elizabeth Banks, Cate Blanchett and Riley Keough in her various short films.
Applause was Prager's first major public commission that took place in the summer of 2017 for Times Square Arts: Midnight Moment, New York followed by a one month video installation in fall of 2018 for Westfield and Art Production Fund, that consisted of an excerpt from Face in the Crowd displayed across all of the large-scale screens at Westfield World Trade Center, New York, NY and Westfield Century City, Los Angeles, CA.
