Amanda Hocking’s own story is one very particular to our age in which the written word is treated with a casual contempt by that over-arching monolith that is the internet. No longer are writers subject to the scrutiny of an experienced editor. No, in age where books are not read but, rather, “viewed” upon mobile electronic devices, one may publish one’s own work, with no oversight and for little or no money. Of course, without a team of marketing professionals, things seldom go terribly well for individuals, irrespective of individual talent and rewards are typically meagre.
In this case, however, Hocking has defied the typical cult of poverty, going on to sell millions of copies of her books and going on to sell her romantic science-fiction through the traditional print press. Her recent Trylle Trilogy has already met with form approval from her strong existing fanbase and the »

Tatchell is currently working on a screenplay for the first of what will become two films based on the three Trylle books. A distributor has yet to be locked in.
Hocking shot to stardom in under a year after self-publishing the young adult vampire series My Blood Approves in e-book format for the cost of only $0.99 per book. Since last spring she has released a total of three trilogies with combined sales surpassing 1 million copies. »

The world of young adult fantasy fiction is so expansive that it’s easy to lose track of. So, I don’t mean it as a slant of any kind against the Trylle Trilogy of books by Amanda Hocking when I say that before today, and before reading the news I’m about to present to you, that I had never heard of them. So…the Trylle Trilogy of books by Amanda Hocking could be getting made into a movie!
That adaptation would also be a trilogy (this is obvious both because the books are such and it’s also customary for new movie franchises to follow that formula), and all three films will have a credible name on their screenplay. And, according to the author’s official site (via /Film), the name is Terri Tatchell; the name may not ring any bells, but if you read this site, then »

[1] You don't have to be a 16-year-old Twihard to know that paranormal teen romance is huge right now. Like, 'has its own shelf at the Barnes & Noble in the sprawling NYC Union Square store' huge. Stephenie Meyer's Twilight is the leader of the pack, obviously, but it's far from the only series out there. Hollywood is all over this trend, as you can tell by the seemingly endless supply of vampires, werewolves, etc., on or heading to screens both big [2] and small [3]. The latest book to get the Hollywood treatment is Amanda Hocking's Trylle Trilogy. Hocking announced [4] on her site yesterday that her books had been optioned for a film, to be adapted by District 9 co-writer Terri Tatchell. I haven't read Hocking's novel, but it seems to be a paranormal Ya fantasy that's not about vampires, sparkling or otherwise. So that's a start! More details after the jump. »

District 9 screenwriter Terri Tatchell will be adapting The Trylle Trilogy of novels, written by Amanda Hocking. The trilogy is comprised of the books Switched, Torn and Ascend. Here's the announcement the author made on her blog earlier today.
The Trylle Trilogy has been optioned for a film. Terri Tatchell - Oscar nominated screenplay writer and Bradbury Award winner for District 9 - is going to adapt the screenplay for the trilogy.
Now, before you get too excited, I'm going to clarify - she's only optioned to write the screenplay. This is no guarantee that this will be a movie. Things fall apart all the time for various reasons. And I have no idea how long it would be before a movie would be released, if it were to even come to frution.
With all that said - I am still very, very excited. Terri Tatchell is tremendous. Regardless of how this all turns out, »
