21 May 2012 8:42 AM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

When Amy Poehler left SNL in December of ’08, Kristen Wiig suddenly became the show’s only full-fledged female cast member. And even after Abby Elliott was officially promoted to repertory player in 2010, Wiig still stood out as one of the series’ most visible performers — and its most visible female player by far. With a dynamo like Wiig dominating the stage and taking nearly every female speaking role, it was nigh on impossible for any other woman to make an impression.

Now, though, Wiig is freeing up her Saturday nights — and the sketch show’s four remaining ladies (Elliott, Vanessa Bayer, »

Rebel Wilson’s Super Fun Night Casts Its Final Bff

15 April 2012 6:30 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Edi Patterson, of the Groundlings, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Weeds, is joining the recently cast Jenny Slate to round out a trio of BFFs at the center of Rebel Wilson's upcoming CBS comedy Super Fun Night. The Australian Wilson, a memorable scene-stealer ("I thought it was a very sad handwritten book") in the catalogue of memorable scene-stealing that was Bridesmaids, is writing the show, which will feature the ladies challenging themselves to have massively fun Fridays nights week after week. With the casting sorted out, Super Fun Night can move toward trying to top the two-dozen-plus think-pieces HBO's Girls garnered across the media. It's already on Vulture's Ten Most Promising Pilots docket, so that's a strong start, we'll totally not objectively submit. »

'Bridesmaids' Breakout Star Joins Michael Bay's 'Pain And Gain'

28 March 2012 12:31 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Aussie actress Rebel Wilson is certainly making a name for herself around the globe. After her hilariously strange performance in "Bridesmaids" as Kristin Wiig's awkward roommate, Wilson has landed a role alongside some action heavyweights in Michael Bay's true crime film, "Pain and Gain."

Unlike "Bridesmaids," Wilson is joining a primarily male-dominated cast including Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Ed Harris, Tony Shalhoub, Anthony Mackie and Rob Corddry, EW reports.

The storyline follows a gang of bodybuilders who are involved in a kidnapping and extortion scheme. Wilson's character, Ramona Eldridge, will find herself in jail for her participation in the plot. The film is based on a true story, which was chronicled in the Miami New Times.

This is not the first film for Wilson following her breakout role in the 2011 hit comedy. She'll also be seen in a few films coming up this year, including "What to Expect When You're Expecting »

[Review] The Lorax

1 March 2012 9:00 PM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

I loved The Land Before Time when I was a kid. It was a cute story with memorable characters in a world full of dinosaurs that utterly fascinated me. I remember seeing it in the theatre, getting the plastic hand puppets from Pizza Hut, and eventually acquiring a VHS of the film through some other restaurant’s promotion.
