25 Songs and Albums that Inspired Adele’s 25

25 November 2015 9:53 AM, PST | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Part of the reason Adele took four years to follow up 21, her world-beating second album, is that she had to work out what kind of artist to be, having exorcised her demons, castigated her enemies, and started a family. As a naturally collaborative songwriter, she got in touch with some old friends (Paul Epworth, Mark Ronson), some new ones (Danger Mouse, Bruno Mars), and some of the most experienced songwriters in pop (Max Martin, Ryan Tedder) to try to help her figure out the right way forward.   You can hear some of that experimentation in 25, in the touches of vintage-fm rock and soul, the modern pop productions, the occasional hint of pained French chanson, and the decision to focus on the pain of love as subject matter rather than sing her diary entries one more time. Here are 25 albums and songs that reflect that search for identity, without which 25 »

One Direction’s New Album Is Out in November; Hear the Maddeningly Anthemic Single ‘Infinity’

22 September 2015 11:02 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

One Direction have set the date for their last album before they go on an extended hiatus: The boys have just announced that Made in the A.M., their fifth album, will bow on November 13 — the same Friday the 13th Justin Bieber plans to release his new album, too. To celebrate, 1D have also released a new song called "Infinity" that's so anthemic it screams Ryan Tedder (only he didn't write it). But it also sounds nothing like the "sexually charged" music you'd expect those four to cook up during prime baby-making hours, which can only mean one thing: A.M. obviously stands for after Malik, as every Directioner will gladly tell you. It's true — this is 1D's first album post-Zayn, so hey, why not run with it? Expect Zayn's official solo debut in three ... two ... one »

Adele will release album in November

28 August 2015 1:33 AM, PDT | National Ledger | See recent National Ledger news »

Adele's new album is out in November. The 'Someone Like You' hitmaker was due to release her third LP in May 2014 but her record label Xl Recordings retracted that date and left fans waiting for over a year before giviving any further news of her upcoming music. However Adele, 27, could be forgiven for feeling pressured to make her next music offering a smash hit since the last sold 11 million copies worldwide and topped the charts in 2011 and 2012. Although the James Bond singer has teased fans over the past 12 months on social media about what was in store and her third album, supposedly titled '25', has a string of collaborators which should help things along. 'Holding on for Life' hitmaker Danger Mouse, Grammy Award winning Swedish producer Max Martin and Canadian singer-songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr. all penned a song. Adele’s Next Album Will Reportedly Be Released This November

27 August 2015 1:22 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

There is no album more anticipated than Adele's follow-up to 2011's diamond-certified 21. And, according to Billboard, the wait is nearly over: The magazine reports that she plans to release her third album this November. Their information comes straight from her label, Xl Records, which had previously denied rumors that Adele would put out an album last year. The singer, however, was thought to have teased a new project, tentatively titled 25, on Twitter last May. As expected, details are scarce, but Billboard confirms that Danger Mouse, Max Martin, Ryan Tedder, and Tobias Jesso Jr. have each contributed to the album — though it remains to be seen what'll make the finished product. We're personally holding out for an Adele–Stevie Nicks duet. »

Alesso – Forever Review

25 May 2015 10:15 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

We always like to be pleasantly surprised by the mainstream.

Alesso’s career as a DJ/producer blossomed in the same general time frame as the worldwide explosion of Edm culture itself; by the time the movement had broken through to the mainstream his name was a ubiquitous part of the scene. We recently showed you the metamorphosis that his style has undergone over the past five years, and his new album, Forever, stand as evidence that he isn’t done evolving as an artist.

Big room house has almost become a dirty word in recent years. As the umpteenth “Animals” clone demands an audience of thousands to jump up and down every time it ricochets around the festival circuit, dance music’s youngest generation of fans reaches an age at which they’d really rather just dance – and as a result, hard kicks and bass drops have become passé by most music fans’ standards. »
