While in Burbank last month, I met up with actress/director Jessica Cameron, (who is responsible for shocking the hell out of festival goers with the in your face Truth Of Dare, as well as the upcoming Mania) for a sit down discussion regarding working as an actress, director, producer and many other roles in the horror genre. Originally, we were going to talk over lunch, but due to loud crowds, we relocated to the always welcoming Dark Delicacies, where we both spent a few bucks before sitting down to chat.
Wanting to do something unique and creative, Cameron and her crew did something that hasn’t been done before, by filming Mania across the country and filming an entirely different movie (Desolation) on the road trip back. The process of filming both was also made into a behind the scenes-filled documentary, Kill The P.A., showing what it takes »

Jessica Cameron’s Truth Or Dare was a very entertaining and gory as hell film that opened eyes regarding Cameron’s directorial chops, with the majority of her previous work being in front of the camera. When it was time to followup that film with another feature, Cameron is set to return with not one, but three films, all filmed simultaneously. Mania, along with Desolation and the feature length documentary, Kill The Pa were all shot back to back, during a cross country Rv trip. Written by Jonathan Scott Higgins, and produced via a partership between Higgins, Cameron and Mem Ferda, it sounds like not only Mania but the one-two-three punch of all three films might be a really interesting approach to see.

The teaser for Mania, directed by and starring modern-day scream queen Jessica Cameron, is here, and it’s looking like some more pretty strong material from one of the genre’s brightest young talents. The official press release arrived with the teaser: Director/Scream Queen Jessica Cameron has shared the first bit of footage from her sophomore directorial vehicle, ...

As you all know, I am a huge fan of the directorial work of Jessica Cameron, and loved her first feature film, Truth or Dare (review). Cameron is finishing up the final edit of Mania (Produced by Mem Ferda, Gunned Down, Pusher), her second feature as a director, and she took a few moments out of her busy schedule to answer some burning questions I had about the film. Check out the the first teaser trailer for Mania below the interview and details.
Jw: I know from watching movies with you and talking about them that you like movies with a lot of nudity and sex, and now with Mania it looks like you have directed one. What is it about nudity and sex in movies that you find appealing?
Jc: Ha Ha Ha! I can honestly say that no one has ever asked me that before. »
Scream queen Jessica Cameron (Truth or Dare) has unveiled the first teaser trailer for her sophomore directorial effort Mania, “a fucked up lesbian love story” which tells the story of two lovers who flee their home and travel cross country after a brutal murder.
“I’m so excited to share this fun little tease from my feature Mania,” states Cameron. “This is one of the sexiest films that I have seen in long time, and I know fans are going to love it as much as I do. This film is as naughty as Truth Or Dare is dirty.”
Check out the trailer here – but be warned, this one really isn’t safe for work…
Mania is set to play on the festival circuit later this year.

Jessica Cameron (Truth or Dare) continues in horror with Mania. This "lesbian love story" gone awry now has a unique trailer. The clip features Vancouverite model and actress Tristan Risk (Bloody Mary) and up-and-comer Ellie Church. Together, these actresses, as Brooke and Mel, flee their home, after a brutal murder. The first trailer hosts a claustrophobic, gory vibe, with characters turned into bloodied mincemeat. As well, actor and producer Mem Ferda (The Devil's Double) has been attached to this feature. A preview of the film is hosted here. Ferda provides a behind-the-scenes look at the film. He states: "Mania is different. Its fresh, alarming, and draws from the sexual anxieties of early Cronenberg." Also, Ferda states that Mania is the first of three features, on which both Ferda and Cameron will collaborate. Mania is soon to release at several film festivals, now that production has completed. Fans of horror can »

In The Drownsman, now out on Blu-ray from Anchor Bay, Ry Barrett superbly plays the titular antagonist, and we caught up with the actor to discuss the 1980s horror movie villains that influenced his performance, his thoughts on reprising the role, and more.
Thanks for taking the time to chat about The Drownsman. I thought it was a fun and frightening film with a 1980s-esque vibe.
Ry Barrett: It is definitely a throwback to those kinds of movies. That is exactly what drew me to it. I’m staring at a stack of my DVDs right now and they’re full of A Nightmare on Elm Street, Candyman—all those sorts of characters I grew up with and always loved to get freaked out by. The second I heard of the opportunity to play a character like that, I was all over it.

Scream Queen turned director Jessica Cameron has shared the first bit of footage from her sophomore directorial vehicle Mania, which tells the story of two lesbian lovers who flee their home and travel cross country after a brutal murder. The movie stars Ellie Church (Time to Kill, Headless) in the lead role of Mel, with Tristan Risk (American Mary) co-starring as her crazed lesbian lover.
Scheduled to start the festival circuit later this year, Mania was one of three features that were filmed simultaneously while traveling across the United States in an Rv. Desolation was the other narrative feature, which is a modern hitch hiker tale in which Cameron stars along side Carlo Mendez (The Bay, The Second Coming of Christ). Undeterred by the recent BBFC ban of our first planned release Hate Crime, we’ve teamed up with our good friends at TheHorrorShow.TV to release another film by writer-director James Cullen Bressack: To Jennifer - the first film shot on an iPhone 5 (pre-dating the forthcoming Hooked Up by a number of months), To Jennifer stars Jessica Cameron, Chuck Pappas, Jody Barton and Bressack himself, and tells a story of love gone wrong shot in a cinema verité, as-it-happened format.
Joey suspects his girlfriend of two years, Jennifer, is cheating on him. He is so convinced that he enlists the help of his cousin Steven to create a video diary of his attempt to catch her in the act as well as to document the heartbreak she is putting him through. In an attempt to make her feel guilty, he intends to give this tape to her after catching her in the act. »

Interview conducted by Jonathan Weichsel
Awhile ago Jessica Cameron and I tried an experiment where I would interview her, but instead of conducting our interview sober like most sane celebrities do, we would drink throughout until we were both completely wasted. What you are about to see is an hour and forty-one minute drunken interview edited by Evan A. Baker from three hours of footage shot by a sober and very patient John Cox over the course of a four hour drinking binge.
The result is, to say the least, raw. Jessica and I both start out our charming and likeable media-friendly bests. But, we soon descend into drunkenness, and that's where the interview gets interesting. This is about the most real and unfiltered look at two public figures you are likely to find online. We fight, argue, and bicker over trivial topics, say things one really shouldn't say in a public interview, »
