10 Reasons Why We Can’t Wait For Game Of Thrones Season 2

22 November 2011 2:56 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

The other day I spent the best part of an hour mindlessly browsing through the TV box sets at HMV before I remembered why I had gone there in the first place; to ascertain the release date of HBO’s Game of Thrones Season 1 on Blu-ray. According to the girl at the counter their computers said 2013, which basically means, “We have no bloody idea.”

My searches on the Internet have proved equally as fruitless. I’m a little disappointed at this, because I’ve been hanging out to re-watch the series as it was meant to be seen – in crisp 1080p. The best estimate I’ve found comes from http://www.westeros.org, an invaluable resource for all things A Song of Ice and Fire, who are suggesting the 19th March as a viable date (UK). I was hoping that this article would coincide with the blu-ray release but since »

Oona Chaplin offers Game Of Thrones Glimpse

April seems so far away right now, floating just out reach, tantalizing us with the premiere of Game of Thrones‘ second season. If only there were some way to tide us over during the long, bitter winter ahead of us! GoT newcomer and Charlie Chaplin descendent, Oona Chaplin, is trying her best to ease our suffering by gifting us with a picture of herself and one of the Stark children all decked out in their GoT wardrobes.

Oona Chaplin posted the photo to her Twitter, featuring herself and co-star Richard Madden, with the tag “Dig this Maddmen!! Big balls, big love.” The message may not mean much to the casual reader, but if you’re in the know then you should be able to see what Chaplin is trying to say. You may find this next part a tad spoilery, so cover your eyes! »

First ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 2 Teaser Reveals Pretty Much Nothing, But We’re Excited Anyway

27 September 2011 10:00 AM, PDT | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

[1] HBO's epic fantasy series Game of Thrones was such a big hit when it premiered this past spring that the network renewed [2] it for a second season just days after the first episode aired. But it's been a long three months since the first season ended, and with the advent of the fall TV season, even the most diehard fans probably haven't thought about the series in quite some time. In an effort to remind you of just how much you're looking forward to Season 2, HBO has released a very short new teaser. The video reveals pretty much nothing, aside from what seems to be the marketing slogan for the new season, but I welcome the reminder all the same. Watch it after the jump. The 17-second teaser not only has no new footage, there's actually no footage at all, despite the fact that the series has been shooting since earlier this summer. »

Blu-ray Review - The Hour

27 September 2011 1:10 AM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

If you read my initial review of The Hour, you might remember that I was lukewarm about the show, though optimistic. After all, it boasted a great cast, including Ben Whishaw and The Wire's Dominic West. The show hits Blu-ray and DVD on September 27, and you know what? It's totally worth it to watch the whole thing.

The show follows aspiring journalist Freddie Lyon (Whishaw) as he works to uncover a shocking conspiracy that involves one of his childhood friends. Hoping to show the story on his new and risky news program (the eponymous Hour), he works with producer Bel Rowley (Romola Garai) and anchor Hector Madden (West) to avoid the censoring British government and uncover the conspiracy that he isn't supposed to be aware of.

Though it has sense been renewed for a second series, The Hour works as a miniseries. All loose ends are effectively tied up »

Game of Thrones: Tyrion Lannister’s Squire Has Been Cast

26 August 2011 4:00 AM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

Yes it’s time for another round of casting news for season 2 of HBO‘s Game of Thrones. One of our favorite characters and definitely one of our favorite actors, Peter Dinklage‘s character Tyrion Lannister will be getting a squire in the new season.

Access Hollywood reports that the squire by the name of Podrick Payne will be played by Daniel Portman (Outcast). Although Podrick appeared in the first book, he wasn’t included in the first season of the tv series. It’s presumed, given the casting, that the character will be older in the series than he was in the books, as in the books he wasn’t yet even a teenager.

In other casting news, Theon Greyjoy’s father Lord Balon Greyjoy will be played by Patrick Malahide (Law and Order: UK), and Oona Chaplin (The Hour, Quantum of Solace) has been cast as Jeyne Westerling. »

It just wouldn’t feel like a news day if we didn’t have another Game of Thrones Season 2 casting to report, and today we have a member of House Greyjoy joining the ranks. We already have Gemma Whelan csst as Yara Greyjoy, and now Patrick Malahide will be playing Balon Greyjoy, the father of Yara and Theon (Alfie Allen). At the end of the Greyjoy Rebellion, Theon was taken hostage at the age of ten and was raised by the Starks for ten years. Theon will reunite with his father and sister, though it might not be the heartwarming event you’d expect.

TV Bits: ‘Band of Brothers’ Writer Developing Western, ‘Game of Thrones’ Casts Jeyne Westerling, Two ‘Buffy’ Alums to Reunite on ‘Supernatural’

22 August 2011 12:00 PM, PDT | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

[1] Band of Brothers writer Bruce McKenna and Nikita producer/director Danny Cannon are developing a new Western series for TNT titled Gateway. The 1880s-set action/adventure series will follow the three sons of a murdered sheriff in the titular town of Gateway, Colorado, who band together in order to save their town from a corrupt cattle baron. (Is there any other kind?) TNT's currently given the show a "cast-contingent pilot order," so we can probably expect casting rumors to start flying around soon. Westerns are having something of a moment right now on the small screen. Also coming up is AMC's post-Civil War series Hell on Wheels [2], as well as a possible remake of Wild Wild West [3] from CBS; NBC was also working on a Western show, but scrapped the project after the pilot stage. The premise for Gateway sounds like classic Western, and with McKenna and Cannon behind it, »

Oona Chaplin Joins Game Of Thrones Season 2 as Jeyne Westerling

16 August 2011 1:25 PM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Filming has been underway for a few weeks in Northern Ireland for the second season of Game Of Thrones but the announcements keep coming. The latest is Oona Chaplin. She will play Jeyne Westerling, a fairly minor character in the second book of the series but it appears her role is to be beefed up so that both she and Robb Stark can provide us with some romance. Without giving too much away, Robb and Jeyne hook up under strenuous circumstances. But since Robb has already promised to marry a daughter of the vindictive Lord Fray, things get a bit difficult to say the least. Chaplin, granddaughter of Charlie, has appeared in the last James Bond flick Quantum Of Solace as well as numerous Spanish-language films. More recently UK fans will have spotted her in the drama series The Hour. By TwitterButtons.com »

Beast in Game Of Thrones Season 2?

16 August 2011 11:06 AM, PDT | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

Ron Perlman is staying pretty busy with his gig on Sons of Anarchy, but he doesn’t think his schedule is so full that he couldn’t make time to appear in HBO’s Game of Thrones. The gentle giant recently shared his interest with AccessHollywood, saying he’d “love to be in ‘Game of Thrones,” and there are plenty of Tinsel Town connections to make a Thrones guest role a definite possibility. Perlman has worked with George R.R. Martin before when the Song of Ice and Fire author wrote for the series, Beauty and the Beast, which starred Perlman as one of the title characters. Incidentally, he wasn’t the beauty.

Game of Thrones is an HBO adaptation of George R.R. Martin's epic fantasy novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire". Oona Chaplin in Game of Thrones Season 2

15 August 2011 5:59 AM, PDT | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

The spirit of Charlie Chaplin will live on in his granddaughter, Oona Chaplin, although she’ll be doing much more serious acting than her grandfather. The young Chapling has been cast in a rather ambiguous role in Season 2 of Game of Thrones. She’s playing a character called Jeyne, but the thing is there’s more than one Jeyne in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels. There’s the one Jeyne, who at one point was Sansa Stark’s best friend. And there’s another Jeyne who “befriends” another member of the Stark family, but that’s all I’ll say about that. I imagine Chaplin will be playing the second Jeyne.
