The UK is represented with a record eleven entries. There are world premiere screenings for Werewolf, where game night just got dangerous, A Bit Of Fun, where a girls’ night in brings out the dead and The Beholder, in which you’d be wise to beware the eyes of strangers…

Filmmaker Francis Xavier is deep in principal photography in Los Angeles, CA on his latest feature, the dramatic ghost tale Less Than A Whisper, and we've got the goods.
Written, produced, directed and starring Xavier (who previously helmed the 2012 horror flick Poe), Less Than A Whisper revolves around (according to the official synopsis) 'Robert (Xavier) and Taylor (Spanish star Sonia Monroy) Usher, who expect to be happy in their new home in Northridge, California where years ago, murder and mutilations destroyed the former residents. Initially the past doesn’t matter to the Ushers, until those who caused the deaths come back; those that live in the earth, those that need, those that are not human. The Ushers' house stands between them and what they must have, and they are coming.'
Rounding out the cast is Serena Lorien (Lazarus: Day of the Living Dead), Arielle Brachfeld (Chemical Peel), Carlee Baker...

We recently told you about the upcoming directorial debut of Martin Owen, which has been described as "a biting social satire of reality television." Titled L.A. Slasher, the film centers on a killer who targets reality TV stars - the kinds of 'celebrities' that have achieved fame and notoriety thanks to their oftentimes reprehensible actions, like starring in sex tapes and being terrible parents.
I think it's safe to say that most of you reading this right now are probably sick and tired of reality TV, and the way that it has turned nobodies into somebodies, and L.A. Slasher is tailor made for those who are, serving as a bloody indictment of our obsession with pseudo celebrities.
Today we've got the reveal of a brand new poster for ya, which you can check out below!

Reality TV has long been a thorn in our sides. No matter how you slice it, there's no reason for the cast of "Honey BooBoo" or "Duck Dynasty" to be celebrities, and while we are at it... who gives a shit what the real housewives of wherever are fighting about now? It's about time someone took this kind of nonsense to task!

It was a monumental year for Haven as it made its first panel appearance at San Diego Comic-Con. Haven not only hosted a fan party in honor of the occasion, they held their 1st panel at Sdcc, then rushed over for a 2nd panel at The Nerd Machine’s Nerd HQ — and managed to squish in time for fan scavenger hunt along the way. Everywhere you turned for the first couple of days at Sdcc there was a Haven event to be had. Fans of the show and newcomers were delighted with the large presence at San Diego Comic-Con and made sure that each appearance was a sold-out, jam-packed, and bursting at the seams event.

This past Saturday (10/20) this writer, along with actresses Natalie Victoria (DeadHeads) and Carlee Baker (The Woman)' made the drive from Hollywood to Temecula, CA, to participate in Run For Your Lives, a zombie-infested 5K obstacle course race and lived to tell about it.
Read on for photos and more!
A national phenomenon, this past weekend’s Run For Your Lives event was set up at Vail Lake, Temecula, and in addition to the well-organized race, it included live bands, food and alchohol vendors and a Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines booth (the film streets tomorrow, 10/23, on DVD and Blu-ray via Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment), where filmmaker Declan O’Brien spent some time signing materials after completing his heat (no lie, I had to talk him into the former, and as it turned out, he was happy I did).
So how does Run For Your Lives work? It’s pretty straightforward.

This writer is imploring you, our tightly-knit horror community, as we approach October – our month of months – to unite for a good cause: supporting Los Angeles women battling breast cancer by contributing to the Bowling for Boobies campaign.

The Woman will be available on DVD/Blu-ray and VOD January 24, 2012. The Woman is gruesome horror with uncomfortably vicious themes wrapped in a nonchalant commentary about keeping the ‘little woman’ under control. This is a film you will want to add to your DVD collection and will most likely make my best horror movies of 2011 list. The Woman is directed and written by Lucky McKee (May, Red) and stars Carlee Baker (Wicked Lake), Shana Barry (Getting’ It), Marcia Bennett (Red), Angela Bettis (Carrie, May), and Sean Bridgers (Deadwood).

Title: The Woman Director: Lucky McKee Starring: Sean Bridgers, Pollyanna McIntosh, Angela Bettis, Lauren Ashley Carter, Zach Rand, Carlee Baker, Shyla Molhusen “Nell,” this ain’t, that’s for sure. Adapted by director Lucky McKee from a novel he co-wrote with Jack Ketchum, “The Woman” tells the story of an antisocial, outright feral female who’s lived in the wild as an animal, and what happens when she’s captured and held by a rural family, in a perverted attempt to foist “civilized” behavior upon her. Walkouts supposedly overwhelmed the movie’s Sundance Film Festival premiere presentation earlier this year, and it’s easy to understand why, given the pattycake niceness of so many indie narratives, especially in...

For the past several years I've been involved directly with Bowling for Boobies (a non-profit fundraiser which provides monetary assistance to L.A. women who are experiencing financial challenges as the result of fighting and living with breast cancer). It's been a vastly rewarding experience as the money Bfb generates goes directly to someone struggling with this deadly disease, Not some ambiguous research society.
This year we're at it again with the 7th Annual Bowling for Boobies, which culminates on October 23 in Los Angeles at Jillian’s Hi-Life at Universal City Walk with a red carpet followed by an evening of bowling. Jane Wiedlin of The Go-Go's will be on...

The Woman has generated some controversy based on its misogynistic tones and scenes of torture. Early reviews from major news sources have called the film "an hour and a half of brutal misogyny" (Reporter) and "devoid of wit, flair and thematic focus" (Variety). However, most critics agree that the film is out to shock and there is often an audience for films that will push boundaries. The Woman will premiere in the United Kingdom August 27th and North America October 14th.
Part of the premise for The Woman is this focus on a feral person captured in the wild. Strangely, this is not an uncommon occurrence, with hundreds of stories of feral people being found in jungles and forests locally and abroad. Recently, there was a report of a Cambodian woman found malnourished and partially naked in Rattanakiri Prov. (2007). Her speech was imparied and her ability to socialize was diminished.

Bloody Disgusting Selects have released the official Us poster for The Woman.
Directed by Lucky McKee (The Woods), The Woman stars Carlee Baker, Shana Barry, Marcia Bennett, Angela Bettis, Sean Bridgers and Lauren Ashley Carter.
The Woman is the last surviving member of a feral clan that has roamed the Northeast Coast for decades. When the last of her family is killed in a battle with the police, The Woman finds herself alone, severely wounded and vulnerable. Unfortunately, she is now a far too easy prey for local hunter, successful country lawyer and seriously disturbed family man Christopher Cleek. With his twisted set of ideals, Cleek decides to embark upon a deranged project – to capture her and “break” The Woman – a decision that will soon threaten the lives of Cleek, his family and The Woman.
The Woman premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to rave reviews, and will receive its U.

The Collective and Bloody-Disgusting Selects continues to make bold choices with their film acquisitions. Even if what they are releasing is hit or miss, you have to applaud them for taking risks. Recently, the pair picked up Lucky McKee's The Woman . This tale of a feral cannibal gal repulsed some audience members at Sundance and now it is getting a release October 14. That's the official poster you see below with star Pollyanna McIntosh peering through a "W." Angela Bettis, Marcia Bennett, Sean Bridgers, Carlee Baker and Tommy Nelson also star. You can watch a trailer here .
