10 August 2011 2:58 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

So You Think You Can Dance airs the first half of its Season 8 finale Wednesday night, and with Melanie, Sasha, Marko, and Tadd in the mix, you know we’ll be witnessing tears, standing ovations, and possibly even tickets for the not-referenced-as-frequently-as-it-used-to-be Hot Tamale Train. (Woo-hoo!) What better time to review the 12 best routines from the show’s previous eight weeks of performance episodes? Without further ado, let the countdown begin…

12. Iveta and Nick (Top 20, Quickstep: Jason Gilkison) Yeah, it’s a little cray-cray that in Week One of competition, our World Champion in Quickstep drew…the Quickstep! But a »

‘So You Think You Can Dance’: Top 8 Perform, Lady Gaga Weeps

28 July 2011 9:00 AM, PDT | Speakeasy/Wall Street Journal | See recent Speakeasy/Wall Street Journal news »

Fox Guest judge Lady Gaga, resident judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy, and guest judge Rob Marshall

In the intro they all look good, but the girls are way better at the strutting thing.

The level of the show is much better now. The all-stars bring charisma and chops, and the competitors seem to be challenged. They dance twice tonight; once with an all-star, and once in pairs among themselves.

Cat looks good in a clean, simple white strappy dress and headband. »

So You Think You Can Dance Recap: Better Eight Than Never

28 July 2011 5:57 AM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Welcome to this week’s recap of Fox’s sparkly spectacle, So You Think You Can Dance: The Search for Nigel Lythgoe’s Favorite Contemporary Dancer Who Used to be Ryan but Who is Now Sasha and Who Will be Someone Else by the End of the Evening. Your regular recapper, Michael Slezak, is enjoying a well-deserved vacation, so please be gentle with me, your caffeine-guzzling TVLine virgin Gino Carlino.

The Top 8 dancers were each paired with All-Stars from seasons past to start the show, and then paired with each other for their followup routines. Mary Murphy liberally dropped her trademark “woooooos! »

Sytycd Recap: 10 Across the Board

21 July 2011 7:20 AM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

So You Think You Can Dance delivered surprising twists aplenty on Wednesday night. Nine of the 10 remaining dancers scored rave reviews from the judges. One choreographer got spanked rather harshly by this week’s guest panelist. And an All-Star dancer bled (rather sexily) for his art. But nothing will be more shocking than seeing one of Season 8′s fabulous female contestants head home on this week’s results show. (Shouldn’t the FCC step in and threaten Fox with a hefty fine for denying us another week of one of these singularly fierce ladies? And doesn’t that sentence make »

'So You Think You Can Dance' recap: Neil Patrick Harris judges Top 10, all-stars return

21 July 2011 2:43 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Neil Patrick Harris joined Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy on the So You Think You Can Dance judging table this week as the Top 10 took to the stage again for two live performances each. The Top 10 all performed a solo routine and another routine with one of the all-star performers, which was judged by the panel. > Read our full So You Think You Can Dance headlines Marko and Chelsie (season 4) - Samba Dance: Choreographed by Jason Gilkison, this dance tells the story of a photographer (Marko) and his publicity-hungry muse (Chelsie) who is desperate for him to take her picture all the time. Neil opens the judging by saying it was a "dirty way to start the show", joking that he would have kissed Chelsie too at the end of the dance. He thinks Marko has a great presence and dances with great precision, calling him "the guy to »

‘So You Think You Can Dance’: The Top Ten Perform

Adam Rose/Fox Cat Deely, host of “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Tonight’s show is thoroughly entertaining. For the first time I rewind a lot of the dances during commercials, and the judges’ comments made me see things in them I might have missed. I would probably enjoy many of the dances more if the camera didn’t pan around so much and I could see them the way the judges do. All the judges do a routine with an all-star, »

So You Think You Can Dance Recap: The Competition Begins!

16 June 2011 6:49 AM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Lithe young bodies take flight with the power and grace of Pegasus. A hyperactive woman sits behind a rectangular table and squeals with delight. A British fashionista dazzles in a shimmering black minidress and silver stilettos from hell. And I’m awkwardly typing phone numbers containing the word “Tempo” into my cellular keypad. It can only mean one thing: The live rounds of So You Think You Can Dance, Season 8, are upon us. And based on Tuesday night’s mostly first-rate performances, I’d say we’re in for a heckuva thrilling summer. Ask 10 different folks who’s the competition’s current front-runner, »

'So You Think You Can Dance': Top 20 dancers take the stage

15 June 2011 10:09 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

We're not sure what it says about "So You Think You Can Dance" that the first celebrity judge of the season was Megan Mullally -- star of "Childrens Hospital," erstwhile Tammy no. 2 on NBC's "Parks & Recreation" and "Will & Grace" alumna. She's not really known for her dancing. But, hey, we were pretty jazzed, what with being big fans and all. We hoped to catch a glimpse of real-life husband Nick Offerman (Ron Effing Swanson) in the audience, but no such luck -- probably home whittling a canoe.

But we digress -- we're here to talk about dance, and here we go.

Season 8's top 20 dancers got off to a strong start with routines choreographed by the usual suspects -- Sonya Tayeh, Jason Gilkison, Travis Wall and -- of course -- sometime judge Tyce Diorio. We tried to catch every single moment, but since we were watching from a bustling green »

'So You Think You Can Dance': What does Ringo Starr have to do with anything?

Salt Lake City turned out to be everything we'd imagined: kind of vanilla with a touch of crazy. But that didn't stop Nigel Lythgoe from taking the "So You Think You Can Dance" train right into the heart of Utah to give the state's auditioners some big love.

Along for the ride on the judge train (kind of like a Tamale train, but judgier) were stalwart Mary Murphy and -- for the first time ever -- Pussycat Doll choreographer/mastermind Robin Anton.

A Salt Lake standout: Tadd Gadduang, a mohawked street dancer who Mary lauded as "fantabulous," had some serious athleticism to back up his moves. Not to mention style -- instead of overdosing on tricks, Tadd kept his moves precise and gave off a mime-like vibe. We can't wait until he gets to Vegas to see him stretch into some other styles.

We were also treated to the usual »
