The group's performances brought acclaim not only to the veteran tap stars, but also to their young protégés.
The original dancers included Charles 'Honi' Coles, Charles "Cookie" Cook, and Ernest "Brownie" Brown. Other members were Chuck Green, Jimmy Slyde, and 'Howard Sandman Sims'.
The original Copasetics was an ensemble of tap-dancers formed in 1949. Each member had his own style and specialty. The group took its name from a trademark line of 'Bill Bojangles Robinson': "Everything is copasetic", or perfect.
Inducted into the International Tap Dance Hall of Fame in 2016.
