‘Breaking Bad’ Actor Rj Mitte: We Need More Disabled People Working in TV

25 August 2016 12:31 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Breaking Bad” star Rj Mitte has a message for Hollywood: cast disabled characters with disabled actors.

Mitte stated in an interview with the Irish Examiner on Wednesday that there isn’t enough exposure for disabled actors in the film and TV industry. The American actor, who himself is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, believes that disabled figures in the media should receive as much screen time as able-bodied actors.

“We know lots of progress is being made but the industry must do more to help disabled people work both in front of and behind the camera,” Mitte said in the interview. “During the Paralympics there will be more disabled people than ever before on TV but this shouldn’t be something that just happens every four years.”

Mitte was cast in “Breaking Bad” in 2008 as Walter White, Jr., who also lives with cerebral palsy. Mitte, who will also co-host the 2016 Paralympic Games in September, revealed »

Here’s The Trailer For ‘Who’s Driving Doug,’ Co-Starring Ray William Johnson

5 February 2016 1:55 PM, PST | Tubefilter.com | See recent Tubefilter News news »

In May 2014, two months after he hosted his =3 web series for the final time, YouTube star Ray William Johnson was revealed as one of the leads in Who’s Driving Doug, an indie film starring former Breaking Bad cast member Rj Mitte. Now, three weeks ahead of the film’s premiere, viewers have received a first look at it thanks to a new trailer.

In Who’s Driving Doug, Mitte plays a handicapped student named Doug who enlists Johnson’s character, Scott, as his personal driver. Together with the third lead character, portrayed by Paloma Kwiatkowski, Doug and Scott embark on a trip to Las Vegas. The film's writer, Michael Carnick, is handicapped himself, and the trailer tells us the story is "inspired by true events." The trailer also dispalys plenty of familiar road movie tropes and a melancholy indie rock soundtrack that includes songs by the band Death Cab For Cutie. »
