Frightfest 2015: ‘Worry Dolls’ Review

28 August 2015 12:25 PM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

Stars: Christopher Wiehl, Kym Jackson, Tina Lifford, Samantha Smith, Yohance Myles, Kennedy Brice, Brea Grant, R. Brandon Johnson | Written by Danny Kolker, Christopher Wiehl | Directed by Padraig Reynolds

It’s been quite some time since I saw Padraig Reynolds’ debut feature Rites of Spring back at Glasgow Frightfest 2012 and since then Reynolds has been pretty silent on the directing front. However, being a huge fan of that film there was no way I was passing up the chance to see yet another slice of Reynolds’ particular style of Southern Gothic.

Much like Rites of Spring mixed genres, taking in crime drama and traditional stalk and slash horror, by way of Southern horror like Jeepers Creepers; Worry Dolls mixes old-school voodoo with the tropes of classic 80s slashers (yes, this is yet Another Frightfest movie to utilise the sterotypes of the slasher genre) in a tale that – like Last Girl Standing »

Come one! Come all! Gather around, because the carnival is back… Alleluia! The Devil’S Carnival that is! In celebration of the new film, I spoke with two of the films stars – Chantal Claret and Jimmy Urine. You might know them from their music careers, but I promise you, they steal the show in the carnival! This was a real treat for me, not only as a fan of their music, but as someone lucky enough to call them pals! Check it out as we talk about acting, The Hoff, and get a bit ‘old timey’ with slang!

After triumphant collaborations on 2008’s Repo! The Genetic Opera and 2012’s The Devil’S Carnival: Episode One, cult filmmakers Darren Lynn Bousman and Terrance Zdunich are back with the second installment to their fantasy-musical film franchise. In Alleluia! The Devil’S Carnival, Lucifer sets a plot in motion against Heaven and all hell breaks loose. »

Beyond Fright Review: Oliver, Stoned

16 July 2015 2:48 PM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

The man child is a concept that feels pretty heavy in male driven comedies, more in particular to those starring Seth Rogen and Adam Sandler. Adult men who refuse to grow up and partake in toilet humor rack up box office tickets and seemingly influence a generation of young adults surrounded by statistics provided by memes that have gone viral on social networks. The philosophy of instantly sharing to thousands within seconds instills the need to swallow without tasting or giving a second thought as to what is being ingested. These comedies are providing the same after taste: not much thought went into it, but you’ll be spitting the best one liners to your friends.

After going to break a 50 at a convenient store, Oliver (Seth Cassell, dressed and made up in his best Seth Rogen) comes back to find the car he was hired to bring back to »

First Trailer for Animated Pa Series Killogy is Ton a Fun

13 May 2015 12:13 PM, PDT | QuietEarth.us | See recent QuietEarth news »

Killogy is an ambitious animated post-apocalyptic crime series produced by The Boondocks producer Rodney Barnes. The first teaser has hit the web and I think it looks like a complete blast.

Killogy is based on the Idw comic created by Alan Robert and features the voices of Frank Vincent (The Sopranos), Marky Ramone (The Ramones), Brea Grant (Dexter) and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein (The Misfits).

Synopsis:

Killogy finds Sally Sno-Cones (Vincent), Summer Rhoades (Grant) and Cole Edwards (Ramone) locked in a prison cell, accused of murder — just as the world is being overrun by a zombie apocalypse. The trailer shows the rag-tag gang taking on a disembodied undead head, and a reawakened voodoo curse flooding the streets of New York with blood.

Life of Agony bassist Alan Robert's comic-book mini-series Killogy has been an indie hit since its 2012 release, due to its Tarantino-esque mix of dark humor and gory violence alongside a bizarre celebrity cast.
