Jana Kramer is speaking out about surviving domestic violence in hopes that other women in her position realize they’re not alone.
The singer and actress discussed why she waited nearly a decade to share her secret: her first husband, Michael Gambino, abused her so badly it landed him in prison for attempted murder.
“I was afraid to tell my story,” Kramer told People Saturday at the Windy City Smokeout Festival in Chicago. “There were about 10 years that I didn’t speak about it because I was afraid people would judge me, or they would try to turn it around.

After working together on last year’s The Judge, which scored Robert Duvall an Oscar nomination, Team Downey’s Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey are reteaming with screenwriter Bill Dubuque to develop a currently untitled dramedy set in the high-stakes environment of televised presidential debates.
The pic will take place during three presidential debates, where (as per Variety) “millions of dollars and months of campaigning come down to 270 minutes of highly scrutinized political theatre.”
Dubuque is scribing, while the Downeys and Michael Gambino will produce for Team Downey alongside Mark Williams.
No actors or director are yet attached, though it’s not hard to imagine Downey Jr. taking on the role of a hungry political operator, either in front of the cameras as a candidate or behind it as a figure pulling the strings. Team Downey and Dubuque jointly hatched the idea, so they’ll likely be intimately involved...

Jana Kramer and Brantley Gilbert have ended their engagement. A source confirms to People that the country singers - who celebrated both of their best new artist nominations at the Academy of Country Music Awards in April - blame their careers for the split. "They are both so busy right now," a source says. "They are both on the road and have to spend a lot of time apart, which isn't ideal for any couple, let alone a couple trying to plan a wedding." Luckily, it doesn't sound like the break-up is to the sound of a typical country song.

For short films, the Tribeca Film Festival is a must. Winning the award for Narrative Short or Best Documentary Short automatically qualifies a film for the Academy Awards. Their track record isn’t too bad either. Shawn Christensen’s Curfew had its New York premiere at the Festival and went on to win the Academy Award.
This year, Tribeca will show 60 short films in eight categories, from a variety of new and returning directors (including Christensen with Grandma’s Not A Toaster), and featuring performances from a number of Hollywood stars. Elijah Wood plays a standup comic who attempts a daring set in Setup,...
