'The Office' wishes you happy, snowball assault-free holidays

22 December 2011 11:12 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The staff of "The Office" wishes you and yours the very best this holiday season. Or at least, better than what they usually get.

The show's latest mashup video is two minutes and change of highlights from Christmas episodes past, from Meredith's (Kate Flannery) topless proposition to Michael (Steve Carell) in "Christmas Party" from Season 2 (the show's first Christmas episode) to a couple of moments from this year's "Christmas Wishes."

In between, you'll see Andy (Ed Helms) hiring a marching band for Erin (Ellie Kemper), Michael pouting over Phyllis (Phyllis Smith) playing Santa and Angela (Angela Kinsey) stomping ornaments in the parking lot.

And snowballs. Lots and lots of Dwight (Rainn Wilson) pelting Jim (John Krasinski) with snowballs in last season's "Classy Christmas."

Enjoy, and remember not to pick a snowball fight with your psychotic co-worker this Christmas. »

New Trailer For 21 Jump Street

20 December 2011 10:23 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

21 Jump Street is the new action-comedy based on the 80′s cult series of the same name. The show made the careers of Johnny Depp and Richard Grieco (briefly with Teen Agent and Mobsters) and featured a police programme where ‘young-looking cops’ are placed undercover in high-schools to root out drug dealers and criminals. The new film features a slim-line Jonah Hill partnered with former school bully Channing Tatum in the recently revived operation. Here is a look at the new film.

21 Jump Street co-stars Ice Cube, Ellie Kemper, Rob Riggle and has Johnny Depp cameoing as his former character Tom Hanson.

Watch Bill Clinton and Mindy Kaling share their holiday book picks on "Today"

20 December 2011 8:50 AM, PST | Nerve | See recent Nerve news »

In a curious pairing, noted authors Bill Clinton and The Office's Mindy Kaling appeared on Today this morning, to share their recommended holiday book lists with host Ann Curry. One can imagine other possible President-Office book-club duos, such as Obama and Ellie Kemper, or Carter and Creed (which could also work as a buddy cop show). After briefly getting Clinton's perspective on the North Korean situation (it would have been priceless had the question been posed to Kaling instead), Curry moved to the subject of books, asking the former president why they make good gifts. (She might as well have asked why medicine makes a good gift to a sick person.) Clinton ran with the softball, working in an anecdote about his recently-passed mother-in-law. Clinton and Kaling's lists were, as you might imagine, quite different. Clinton's was decidedly more highbrow, featuring dense books on history, [...] »

New Trailer & Poster For Channing Tatum & Jonah Hill’s ’21 Jump Street’

19 December 2011 2:15 PM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

After conquering the animated world with their charming feature debut, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, directing duo Phil Lord & Chris Miller are reteaming to take on live action for their sophomore effort. This film is a remake of the 1987-1991 TV series, 21 Jump Street, which starred a then unknown Johnny Depp (who is said to making a cameo in this as his original character). This update will star Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as undercover police officers who investigate a drug ring at a high school, and thus hilarity ensues.

Following the red band trailer, a new one has now been released for the upcoming comedy. Check it out below via Digital Spy:

Also just released is a new poster for the film, featuring Hill and Tatum posing in typical spy style, along with a tagline that gave me a slight chuckle. Check it out below, via Daily Blam: »

’21 Jump Street’ Poster and Trailer – Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are the Cutest Couple at the Prom

19 December 2011 1:00 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

[1] Though it's being touted as a remake of the '80s TV series starring Johnny Depp, anyone with even a passing familiarity with the source material will recognize that Phil Lord and Chris Miller's upcoming action-comedy 21 Jump Street has little in common with its predecessor. No, the real draw of the action-comedy so far looks to be in the surprisingly lively chemistry between leads Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum -- and accordingly, two new bits of marketing from Columbia highlight just that. After the jump, check out a new trailer in which the pair team up to break all the rules spelled out by their supervising officer (Ice Cube) and a poster that shows off the two guys making the cutest prom couple ever. The new trailer recycles most of the same jokes we've already seen in the two previously [2] released [3] trailers, but it's got just enough new material to be worth checking out. »

Nominations for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards

14 December 2011 11:30 AM, PST | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

The Screen Actors Guild has announced their list of nominations for the best performances of 2011. I have to point out that I'm surprised Tom Hardy and Joel Edgarton weren't nominated for their roles in Warrior, because they were pretty damn awesome in that film. I think they deserved a nom more than Leonardo DiCaprio. I'm a huge fan of DiCaprio but his performance in J. Edgar wasn't his best. Brad Pitt will end up taking home the award for Moneyball though. It was great to see Bridesmaids and The Help get a nomination for best ensemble cast. It will be interesting to see who takes home the award on this list, and how many of them will make their way to the Oscars.

Who would you like to see take home the award?

Here's the full press released with the list of Nominations:

Best Ensemble... Except You Corey Stoll in "Midnight in Paris"!

14 December 2011 10:33 AM, PST | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

It's become something of a tradition here at The Film Experience to take issue with the Screen Actors Guild and their problematic "Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Motion Picture" prize. Year after year they don't even seek to address an issue that you'd think would matter to the 90,000+ guild members: the preferencing of "names" over character actors, no matter the size or importance of the role. As you may know acting is one of those fields were you're lucky to just be working and those who make millions are few and far between. Yet the guild, which should be protecting their less-famous members often lets them be crushed by fame and its perks (aka getting your own title card or high billing). If you don't have your own title card you usually don't end up in the "ensemble" list. Our interest in this situation was first stirred by »

A "Bridesmaid" no more!

"The Office" star Ellie Kemper announced on Wednesday night's "Conan" that she's engaged to longtime love Michael Koman.

"It's sort of a big deal around this office," Conan O'Brien said. "You got engaged." O'Brien mentioned that Koman is a "very talented writer who worked for me for many, many years."

"I did!" Kemper confirms. ""Michael's a delight, as you know, so of course [my parents] like him a lot."

The Office Review: Self-Prankervation

8 December 2011 9:07 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

The Office has knocked Christmas episodes out of the park in the past, so a high bar was set for "Christmas Wishes.  It didn't live up to the original "Christmas Party" or last season's "Classy Christmas," but it was certainly one of the funnier outings of season eight.

There were a lot of things that make up a good Office episode at play here. Jim and Dwight were in a pranking zone, there was a whole lot of Erin Hannon, Andy Bernard wasn't ridiculously annoying, and of course, there was an amazing montage/air band rock out set to Tso's "Carol of the Bells."

Dunder Mifflin has done holiday music well in the past - Angela's "Little Drummer Boy" comes to mind - but nothing like this. Between Kevin and Jim receiving a cookie jar and a vasectomy pamphlet as gifts, Erin pounding shots with Phyllis, and Creed, Nate and »
