Neko Case and Kelly Hogan's new video warns: 'These Aren’t The Droids'

18 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

We've already pointed out the many splendor thing about Kelly Hogan and Neko Case's very silly and strong feministing song "These Aren't The Droids." I giggle every time at the "sexbot with only holes" line. But the music video to the comedy track may also be a fun primer for some of you leading up to San Diego Comic-Con, first, for some great cosplay ideas. Secondly: tips on dining table etiquette and what to do with your tasers. Third, it's a reiteration of how people shouldn't treat  girls (geeky or not) like second-rate space citizens. We may get you pregnant by pointing at you. Ellie Kemper also co-stars, so you've got that. "These Aren't The Droids" is a track off of the benefit album "2776," which boasts contributions from other music and comedy acts including Patton Oswalt, Reggie Watts, Aimee Mann, Ed Helms, Will Forte and more. Jason Segel & Cameron Diaz Strike A Pose At 'Sex Tape' Premiere

10 July 2014 9:00 PM, PDT | Uinterview | See recent Uinterview news »

Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz hit the red carpet for the U.S. premiere of their new movie Sex Tape in Los Angeles Thursday night.

Sex Tape Premiere

For the premiere at the Westwood Village Theater, Diaz wore a black jumpsuit with white polka dots by Stella McCartney paired with black Prada shoes and jewelry by Cartia and Melinda Maries. Segel, meanwhile, kept it simple in a classic black suit and white dress shirt.

In Sex Tape, Segel and Diaz play a married couple that decides to try to spice up their sex life by making a sex tape – for their eyes only. However, when Jay (Segel) accidentally uploads the video to “the cloud,” he and Annie (Diaz) embark on a mission to have it permanently deleted.

Watch Neko Case Imagine Sci-Fi For Women With Ellie Kemper

10 July 2014 5:52 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Even with the news of exciting female casting in the new "Star Wars" movie, it's always refreshing to hear people complain about the historic dearth of good female roles in sci-fi movies. Here's Neko Case, her frequent collaborator Kelly Hogan, and "Office"/"Bridesmaids" alumna Ellie Kemper talking about droids, bots, and the like. The Leia hair with the "Star Trek" outfit is my favorite incendiary moment.  »

Video: Ellie Kemper imagines sci-fi for women with Neko Case and Kelly Hogan

10 July 2014 10:37 AM, PDT | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

The future according to the world of sci-fi is really appealing—if you’re a teenage boy.

In a wacky video for their new song, “These Aren’t the Droids,” singer Neko Case and her longtime collaborator Kelly Hogan slyly highlight the extent to which popular visions of the future are designed to appeal to teenage male fans. Case wears a Star Trek uniform and Princess Leia wig (probably just to make you angry about that combination), while Hogan sports a full-on Chewbacca costume. Ellie Kemper (The OfficeBridesmaids) also appears as a woman unfulfilled by her relationship with a Star Wars stormtrooper. »

Atlanta Readers: Win Passes to See Sex Tape

9 July 2014 10:11 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

In the comments section for our recent most-anticipated article, I got flack for wanting to see Sex Tape.  I genuinely want to see this movie.  I've laughed at the trailer, and I think director Jake Kasdan has a knack for nailing R-rated comedy.  Also, it's been almost a month since 22 Jump Street, and I want my R-rated comedy fix.  Furthermore, I want to note that we don't do pass giveaways unless I genuinely think our readers will like the movie.  So while there are the regular naysayers in the comments section, I hope there's a silent group of readers out there that wants to see a good-looking comedy with me. I'm pleased to announce we're giving away 20 admit-two passes to the Atlanta screening of Sex Tape.  Hit the jump to find out how you can see the movie early and for free.  The film stars Jason Segel, Cameron Diaz, Rob Corddry, »

Cameron Diaz Experiences a Minor Mishap in Second 'Sex Tape' Clip

8 July 2014 10:45 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

While enjoying a night without their kids, married couple Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) decided to spice up their love life by recording a marathon lovemaking session. The only problem is, Jay forgot to erase the footage in a new clip from the upcoming comedy Sex Tape. Now that their three-hour, uncensored video is out there for all their friends and family members to see, Annie takes Jay to task for not erasing the tape when he had the chance, before it was uploaded to the cloud. As Jay explains in this scene, "no one understands the cloud," as they race to destroy every copy of their explicit video before their reputations are ruined forever.

When Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) first got together, their romantic connection was intense - but ten years and two kids later, the flame of their love needs a spark. To kick things up a notch, »

Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel Bicker Hilariously in Our Exclusive 'Sex Tape' Preview (Video)

8 July 2014 5:30 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

The concept for this month's "Sex Tape" is simple and hilarious: Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz play a loving couple who has been married for ten years and have two adorable kids. After a night of too much drinking (and zero parental responsibilities), they decide to make a sex tape... a sex tape that then gets out into the world. In this exclusive clip, we get to see the immediate aftermath of the sex tape going viral.

"How do you forget to erase a sex tape?" Cameron asks (rather pointedly) at the beginning of the clip. After Segel makes some half-assed excuse, he notes that it's now "in the cloud." Diaz then snaps that he should get it down from the cloud. "Nobody understands the cloud! It's a mystery!" Segel responds, in a joke that made my mother laugh the other day when she saw it on the TV commercial. »

Cameron Diaz Heats Up First Sex Tape Clip, Plus New Images

4 July 2014 7:31 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

One major contender for comedy of the summer (though Neighbors may already have that one in the bag) is definitely Columbia Pictures’ upcoming Sex Tape, in which a bored married couple (Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz) decide to spice up their love life by recording themselves recreating every position in The Joy of Sex. However, when their lengthy video is accidentally uploaded to the cloud and distributed across every iPad they gave out the preceding Christmas (because rich people problems), the couple find themselves racing against time to destroy every copy of the sex tape before their friends, loved ones and even their postman can get a glimpse.

Our first clip from the comedy puts the focus squarely on Diaz’s sex appeal – and seeing as Diaz recently spoke to Esquire about going nude before the camera for the first time in her career for Sex Tape (“It’s a first for me. »

‘Sex Tape’ Clip Emphasises Segal’s Excitement!

3 July 2014 11:25 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

This latest clip from the upcoming comedy Sex Tape, sees Jason Segal unable to contain his excitement at a scantily clad Cameron Diaz on roller skates. Sex Tape stars the Bad Teacher duo reuniting with that film’s director, Jake Kasdan. The chemistry is instantly recognisable between the two, which will hopefully add to the comedy as the pair try and retrieve a sex tape that accidentally sent itself to the iPads of their friends and family.

It’s a very simple idea that could go either way. It may be crude and silly, or may actually have some heart. In a time of technology where even stars are having their private topless pics seen across the internet, the film may actually deal with the idea of a forever connected society where privacy begins to be stripped away.

Sex Tape is released 18th July in the Us and 3rd September in the UK. »

3 July 2014 1:00 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Last weekend may have been consumed by Mark Wahlberg, Autobots, Dinobots and one too many Michael Bay low angle shots, but there was also a unique take on romantic comedies in the mix too, David Wain’s They Came Together.  It stars Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler as Joel and Molly.  While on a double date with Bill Hader and Ellie Kemper’s characters, Joel and Molly run through the history of their relationship, hitting an abundance of all-too-familiar rom-com troupes along the way. They Came Together hit select theaters and On Demand on June 27th, so if you caught Matt’s review, you might have already checked it out, but if you’d like a taste of the type of comedy and tone Wain’s going for first, we got our hands on some exclusive material from the film that might help you out.  Hit the jump to check »

[For a delightful photographed account of the weekend click on the image above or on the tab at the bottom of the diary.] Every year, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre puts on the Del Close Marathon (Dcm) in honor of its legendary Chicago improv teacher. Now in its 16th year, the festival has grown from 24 hours of shows on a single stage to hundreds of shows on eight stages for nearly 56 hours straight. Every year, performers from the past return to do shows and hang out at this part-festival, part-convention, part-reunion. Last year, we had The Office's Ellie Kemper keep a diary of her Dcm. This year, Vulture asked Silicon Valley star Thomas Middleditch, who performed at Ucb New York after time spent in Chicago and before his move to L.A. We are a couple of weeks away from the release of Sex Tape and we now have a new clip courtesy of Yahoo! Movies, which sees Cameron Diaz (Bad Teacher) give Jason Segal (How I Met Your Mother) the good news that the kids are away and they have the house to themselves.

When Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) first got together, their romantic connection was intense – but ten years and two kids later, the flame of their love needs a spark. To kick things up a notch, they decide – why not? – to make a video of themselves trying out every position in The Joy of Sex in one marathon three-hour session. It seems like a great idea – until they discover that their most private video is no longer private. Sex Tape Clip and Images: Cameron Diaz Does Her Best Rollergirl Impression

2 July 2014 4:44 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Sony Pictures has released the first Sex Tape clip from director Jake Kasdan’s upcoming comedy, as well as a batch of new high-resolution images from the film.  The pic stars Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz as a couple who, after discovering that their three-hour intimate video has accidentally been uploaded to the cloud, set out to delete the video from the iPads of their friends and family and ensure that their reputations aren’t ruined.  This new clip appears to be a scene from the “inciting incident” that leads to the aforementioned sex tape, as Segel’s character is very excited about Diaz’s sexy mobile get-up.  Segel also shares screenplay credit on the film with Nicholas Stoller and Kate Angelo, which is encouraging.  He and Diaz are both talented comedic actors and I’m a big fan of Kasdan’s Walk Hard, so hopefully this one delivers on »

Come Undone: Wain’s Cliché Buster Episodically Funny

Every now and then, director David Wain delivers a great film with his certain brand of offbeat humor darkly shining, particularly with Role Models (2008) and Wet Hot American Summer (2001). At the very least, his less successful ventures feature standout performances from someone in his regular crew of comedic comrades (Michaela Watkins in Wanderlust, for instance). But arriving with the Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd headlined They Came Together (yeah, it’s supposed to mean that, too), finds Wain at his most strained since the episodically structured The Ten. Except, this film might have actually benefitted from a string of vignettes harpooning ridiculous rom-com tropes rather than the befuddling exercise at hand centered on two people that we’re watching solely as performers engaging in sketches rather than actual characters, utilizing a variety of broad comedic styles that feel lifted from the likes of The Naked Gun. »

Cameron Diaz Shows Her 'Oh No Face' in New 'Sex Tape' Poster

The 1999 cult classic Office Space popularized the term "Oh face," but Sony's new comedy Sex Tape is about to add a new term to the pop culture zeitgeist: the "Oh no face." That look of utter disbelief can be seen on the new Sex Tape poster, where Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel react to the news that their "private" sex video has been uploaded to the "cloud," which can be accessed by all of their friends and family members who received their iPads as Christmas gifts. Take a look at the one-sheet below, the read on for details on how you can submit your own "Oh no face" on social media.

Film Review: ‘They Came Together’ Sharply Skewers the Rom-Com

27 June 2014 4:18 PM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – If there is any genre of film that needs a good blasting, it is the romantic comedy. These silly fantasies practically seem like satires anyway, so when the comic genius of writer/director David Wain ponders them, and casts Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler as the “couple,” the funny will fly.

Rating: 3.5/5.0

Although making fun of the rom-com is like shooting fish in a barrel, Wain – with co-writer Michael Showalter – use all kind of firing weapons. The film is actually like the “Airplane” of rom-com satires, going so extreme and surreal that you will be as much freaking out as laughing, which is awesome. Rudd, Poehler, Cobie Smulders (“How I Met Your Mother”), Bill Hader and Ellie Kemper (“The Office”) are all at the top of their comic games, and they deliver the sometimes bizarre material to perfection. If you love or hate rom-coms, this movie is for you. »

They Came Together Review

27 June 2014 11:19 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

[This is a re-post of my review from the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.  They Came Together opens today in limited release and on VOD] When director David Wain does his own thing, it may not be for everyone, but he’s also at his best. His more mainstream films, Role Models and Wanderlust, are entertaining, but his work on The State, Stella, and the classic Wet Hot American Summer is distinct, absurd, bold, and painfully funny. His latest, They Came Together, is Wain embracing his unique comic voice as he turns to mock one of Hollywood’s easiest targets, the romantic comedy. Despite the easily apparent flaws of that genre, Wain and co-writer Michael Showalter not only poke fun at the obvious tropes, but also let their delightfully twisted comedy burst through. Further supported by Paul Rudd brilliantly and brutally skewering his familiar leading man persona, They Came Together doesn’t bring the rom-com to its knees, but it does deliver a well-deserved gut punch. During a double-date with their friends (played by Bill Hader »
