Spider-Man: Homecoming UK release moved up two days

25 May 2017 8:26 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

UK fans have become accustomed to getting the chance to see Marvel Cinematic Universe movies earlier than our American friends, and it seems that the inclusion of Sony on Spider-Man: Homecoming won’t change that tradition.

As noted by Digital Spy, Sony has announced that the Tom Holland-headlined reboot has been brought forward to Wednesday, July 5th, two days earlier than it debuts in North America.

Just yesterday, we got a pair of two trailers for the solo movie, which is being directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car) and marks Spider-Man’s solo McU debut following his introduction in last year’s Captain America: Civil War. Watch the new trailers here.

Tom Holland wants to play Spider-Man for the next 20 years

21 May 2017 7:40 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Tom Holland made his debut as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in last year’s Captain America: Civil War, and will soon be headling his own big screen adventure in Spider-Man: Homecoming, before reuniting with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes for Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel.

We do know that Holland will also be back for a Homecoming sequel, but there’s some uncertainty over his future beyond that; producer Amy Pascal has suggested that Homecoming 2 may mark the end of the collaboration between Marvel and Sony, while Kevin Feige has said that Avengers 4 is “as far as it goes for now.”

Well, it seems that Holland himself is certainly thinking long term, revealing to Empire that he’s been speaking to the powers that be about his ambition to portray the character for 20 years:

“Peter Parker is a character we see [in the comics] as a 15-year-old boy and then as a 35-year-old man. »

Spider-Man: Homecoming projected for $135 million domestic opening

13 May 2017 6:40 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

We’re less than two months away from the return of the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man as Marvel and Sony unleash their big screen reboot Spider-Man: Homecoming, and according to Box Office Pro, early projections are pointing to a $135 million domestic opening weekend for Tom Holland’s web-slinger.

Should Homecoming debut to $135 million, it would give the McU its sixth biggest opening weekend after The Avengers ($207.4 million), Avengers: Age of Ultron ($191.3 million), Captain America: Civil War ($179.1 million), Iron Man 3 ($174.1 million) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($146.5 million). It would also be the second-biggest Spider-Man opening ever after 2007’s Spider-Man 3 ($151.1 million).

Homecoming certainly has plenty going for it; it’s Spidey’s first real introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe following his supporting role in Civil War, Robert Downey Jr. is on board as Tony Stark, and the trailers have been well received.

We’re still a couple of months away from the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, but star Tom Holland is already starting to field questions about the second instalment of the rebooted Marvel and Sony series, revealing to CinePOP that he’d like to see Spider-Girl introduced in the sequel.

“There’s so many good villains, I really like Mysterio, I like Kraven. I really like the Clone Saga. I think it could be really cool if Peter, or Spider-Man has to fight people with the same powers as him. Spider-Woman’s super cool… I think she’s called Spider-Girl who is his clone. Zendaya confirms, once again, her character in Spider-Man: Homecoming is Not Mary-Jane Watson

Singer turned actress Zendaya has once again confirmed that the character she is playing in Spider-Man: Homecoming is not a love interest at all and, specifically, is most definitely not the beloved redhead Mary-Jane Watson.

Speaking to MTV this past weekend during their annual awards, Zendaya said: “My character is 100 percent Michelle, that’s her name, I promise I’m not lying. She’s definitely a different character. This is a character I can have fun with and just really create what I wanted to make her and the director a lot of really cool ideas about how to make her weird and interesting and cool. She says weird things at the wrong time, but that’s why people like her.”

Dave Bautista thinks Marvel could regain full rights to Spider-Man

7 May 2017 4:22 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It came as quite the surprise when it was first announced that Marvel and Sony had reached a deal to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Captain America: Civil War, and now we’re just a couple of months away before the release of the new web-slinger’s first solo outing in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

In recent weeks, there’s been a lot of speculation as to how long this Marvel / Sony partnership could last, with Marvel’s Kevin Feige stating that Avengers 4 is “as far as it goes for now” and reports suggesting that Homecoming 2 could be the end of the road for the deal.

While we’ve assumed this means that Sony would then go back to having full control over the wall-crawler, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Dave Bautista has now suggested this may not be the case after all, as he thinks Marvel could regain the character. »
