Liam Hoofe predicts the results of Sunday’s WWE Payback event…
WrestleMania 33 is now in the rear view mirror and the fallout from the event has seen several major changes in the WWE landscape.
Superstars and championships have moved homes, Nxt superstars have made their arrivals on the main roster, and most surprisingly of all, Jinder Mahal is now the number one contender for the WWE championship – what a time to be a wrestling fan.
The company returns to its brand specific pay per views this weekend, with their annual Payback event. The card features several big matches, despite the Universal title being absent from proceedings. Here are my match by match predictions for Sunday’s big show.
Pre-Show: Enzo and Cass Vs Gallows and Anderson
Finally, the match we’ve all been waiting to see. With both teams having no direction post-WrestleMania, they will go head to head »

Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…
Whose Show Is It Anyway?
A battle of the talk show segments opened Raw. Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel vs Miz TV vs The Ambrose Asylum. Apart from the bit where Ambrose gave Chris a new jacket as a peace offering for destroying his old one last year, this was Raw on the worst kind of cruise control. The kind that mistakes a 100 foot drop for the next left. The whole segment went way too long, continued to damage The Miz’s reputation he spent so long establishing on Smackdown, and failed to mention Ambrose’s ‘potted plant’ Jericho once destroyed by name.

Taking A Dump In Roman’s Yard
The crowd opened the show with a two-minute long Undertaker chant in honour of the Deadman’s retirement, which slowly and organically transitioned into ‘Roman Sucks’. Taking his cue, The Big Dawg himself came out to tend to his newly acquired yard. The crowd booed, chanted ‘f you Roman’,‘delete’, ‘you suck’, ‘Roman sucks’, ‘shut the f up’, ‘asshole’ and ‘go away’ for 8 minutes while Reigns just stood there. Finally, on the third time of bringing the microphone to his lips, Roman merely said, ‘It’s my yard now’ and walked off.
Michael Cole explained tonight is the post-Mania crowd, full of non-traditional WWE fans. By non-traditional WWE fans, I assume he means those who won’t accept your promotion’s ineffective force feeding of a miscast top babyface.

It’s time once more for Wrestlemania the biggest professional wrestling and sports entertainment event for fans and performers that there is. This year the event is held in Orlando, the home of Nxt – where a lot of the current roster of superstars got their start -and as usual (at least on paper) the card doesn’t seem that great. But that’s the thing with the WWE’s biggest pay per view, there’s always surprises: especially when it comes to Wrestlemania moments….
We’ve already covered the kick-off pre-show, so onto the main event, hosted by The New Day, who kick off proceedings with a typical New Day promo – only this time they’re dressed like Final Fantasy characters (gotta get that video game sponsorship money right?) Though you have to give it to Big E for the double-entendre, hacker-centric joke about “pulling levers” then staring at Xavier Woods! »

WrestleMania XXX was an eventful show. It calmed the fears of those afraid that it would crash the WWE Network and cause major damage to the company's latest venture. Cesaro broke away from his tag team and broke out by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy. Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and the Rock hung out in the ring and had a blast. Mr. T and Roddy Piper buried the hatchet. Daniel Bryan went through an endless supply of punishment before being defeating Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista.
At the weekend, the WWE Network tweeted out a clip of Matt and Jeff Hardy’s Wrestlemania 25 match, describing the tables used in one spot as Broken.
You better believe tables were Broken in the battle between The #HardyBoyz at the 25th Anniversary of #WrestleMania! #WWENetwork pic.twitter.com/Bvtg4fmGWo

This is, of course, an all-caps reference to Matt Hardy’s Broken Universe gimmick, one which WWE’s Twitter accounts are continuing to tease.
The WWE Universe account this time has since tweeted “that match was pretty Wonderful, wasn’t it?” – the all caps ‘Wonderful’ being yet another reference to Broken Matt Hardy.

You might have noticed that Mauro Ranallo – who, in my opinion, is WWE’s best announcer (and he tweeted me back once!) – hasn’t been part of Smackdown’s 19-man commentary booth recently. His first absence was on the 14th March episode, which WWE explained was because of the fierce snowstorm in the area. But then he missed the following week’s episode. And then this week’s go-home show too.
The real reason appears to be Ranallo’s long-running battle with depression. Mauro was first diagnosed with bipolar disorder aged 19. And, as anybody who’s had experience with the illness knows, it’s not something you cure – it’s a condition you deal with your entire life. There are good days and then, suddenly, there’s a hole from which you can’t get out.

We're less than twenty days to Wrestlemania and Monday Night Raw is in the books. As we head toward the WWE's biggest show of the year, we saw Brock Lesnar make an appearance hyping his match against Goldberg at Wrestlemania, Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe faced off against Sami Zayn and Chris Jericho in a tag team match, and Roman Reigns have a discussion with the legendary Shawn Michaels discussing Roman's upcoming match against The Undertaker. How did the Red Brand of the WWE stack up?
The opening of the show with Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar was another instance of Paul Heyman giving a free lesson in how to give a promo in the ring. On his worst night, Paul Heyman is better on the mic than most people that have ever laced up boots in the history of professional wrestling. Brock Lesnar himself seemed more animated than he usually does in the ring, »

Everywhere you turn, there are odd mashups occurring throughout comics, especially at Warner Bros. and DC Comics where the wall separating properties has crumbled. The latest example is the confounding The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-WrestleMania direct-to-video film. Apparently they must have had a success with The Flintstones & WWE: Robo-WrestleMania because here’s a sequel.
Thankfully, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Big Show has been frozen in ice, like a certain star-spangled Avenger, and when George Jetson thaws him out, the wrestler wants title back. He does this by vanquishing that era’s wrestle-bots and once he takes the throne, decides he wants to take over the universe. Coming to the future’s rescue as Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Alicia Fox, the Uso Brothers, Sheamus and WWE impresario Vince McMahon.

After his clean loss at WWE Fastlane to The Big Show earlier this week, following months of ineffectual booking, people are starting to wonder whether someone’s got it in for Rusev backstage. It’s just the latest rumour in his and Lana’s WWE career. Back in 2015, the Ravishing Russian reportedly brought heat on the couple backstage when their real-life engagement went public – while they were involved in a love triangle storyline with Dolph Ziggler. Then she had a badly received Twitter bust-up with Paige.
Rusev is also no stranger to honest remarks on Twitter. He’s gently poked fun at WWE booking decisions in the past – like the amount of matches Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns had earlier this year, and, most recently, wishing Jack Swagger well after the All-American American requested his WWE release. There’s a rumour that tweet is behind Rusev’s Fastlane loss.

In my 25 years as a wrestling fan, Royal Rumble has always been one of my favourite annual events. The opportunity to see a bunch of your favourite WWE stars and the potential for surprises make it a night to keep an eye on. This year has some interesting matches, and the Rumble itself it set to be a star-studded affair featuring a handful of veteran names from the past, primarily Goldberg, Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker.
The Kick-Off show matches began with the women of Smackdown Live going at it in a six-woman tag team match. It was a shame that this seemingly got bumped from the main show, and I hope more effort is given to the women’s division on Smackdown soon. There are seperate feuds going on, so maybe we will see multiple women’s matches at the next Smackdown Live exclusive PPV. Nikki Bella, Naomi and »

January 24th, 1988 was a great day in wrestling history. On that date, live on the USA Network, the WWE held their first ever Royal Rumble. In classic Vince McMahon fashion, holding this event for free on cable was a way to keep folks from ordering the Bunkhouse Stampede pay per view Jim Crockett Promotions put out that same day. The Royal Rumble match itself was revolutionary. Starting with two performers in the ring, at regularly timed intervals, another performer would come out until, in the case of the 1988 Royal Rumble, all twenty participants were in the ring. The winner of that first Rumble was Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
Fast forward 29 years and here we are at the 30th Royal Rumble. Unlike the Rumble’s that have occurred the past five years, the WWE has done an amazing job of promoting this event. They have some great matches in store as well »

Liam Hoofe with his WWE Royal Rumble 2017 predictions…
The Road to Wrestlemania officially kicks off this Sunday as the WWE hosts the Royal Rumble. The 30 man event is always one of the WWE’s most exciting matches, jam-packed with surprise returns, and in recent years, Nxt call ups and debuts.
The 2017 Rumble is one of the most difficult to predict in recent memory and fans have got their fingers crossed that the company don’t screw up the result, as they have done in the previous four Royal Rumbles.
Below are my match by match predictions for the show:
The Club have had a tough time since debuting last April, »

First there was Wonder Braun. Then came short shorts Strowman. And over the festive period we were even gifted Santa Braun.
Now, thanks to Reddit user Casuke, we have Tinder Braun. Who, as you can see by his profile, enjoys lifting weights and eating steaks. No mention of destroying jobbers with no regard for their physical health, though. That’s a third date kind of thing.
Strowman isn’t just dominating superficial dating apps these days. He’s also being aggressively inserted into the main event picture of Monday Night Raw – where he shared the ring this week with both Goldberg and Roman Reigns. This can be easily explained away with ‘Vince likes big guys,’ but there might be another reason behind-the-scenes.
