After a bohemian life that has found her straddling New York, Paris, Milan, Stockholm, and Los Angeles, Anya (née Anne Bergstedt Jordanova) decided at a young age to make acting the focus of her life. Born into a family of performers - her grandmother Jean Carlin starred in many Hollywood films of the Golden era - in 2006, Anya turned all her attention from professional ballet to the theater.

After gaining recognition as an international fashion model, and being nicknamed "The Transplant Beauty" by ZOO magazine, Anya focused on building her career in cinema. She can be seen in "Arthur", NBC's "30 Rock", and the upcoming thriller "Ligeria".

Her directorial debut "August" premiered at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. In addition, Anya was a Conservatory student at the Lee Strasberg Film and Theater Institute in New York, and the Australian Institute of Dramatic Arts. She now studies at The Juilliard School for Drama in New York.

She is of Swedish descent.
