Lazaro Hernandez is known for his role on The Fashion Fund, during which he competed with his brand, Proenza Schouler. Founded by the legendary Anna Wintour, The Fashion Fund is a documentary-style TV show featuring behind-the-scenes action from the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the Vogue Competition for young designers.

Under their Proenza Schouler label, he and Jack McCollough designed the fifth collection for Target's GO International line. It was available exclusively at Target stores and on www.target.com from February 5, 2007 - May 5, 2007.
Along with Jack McCollough won the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designer's of America) Perry Ellis Award in 2003 for new talent, for their fashion line, Proenza Schouler.
While a student at Parsons School of Design, he interned at Michael Kors.
Attended the Parsons School of Design, where in 1999, he met Jack McCollough. They worked together on their thesis project, calling the collection Proenza Schouler, which combines their mothers' maiden names. They continue to design under this label.
