Extreme weight loss and tooth extraction: when method acting goes too far

4 hours ago | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Which star didn’t bathe for four months? Who became a cabbie? Our guide to actors who take their art to new levels

Marlon Brando may be the most famous Hollywood exponent of method acting, even if the double Oscar-winning star of On the Waterfront and The Godfather always refused to accept the tag. But even Brando’s efforts to prepare for a part – which once involved him living alongside wounded soldiers in a veteran’s hospital for a full month to play an injured second world war lieutenant in his 1950 film debut, The Men – pale into comparison with those of some of his spiritual successors.

Catch A Listen To The Suicide Squad Soundtrack From Composer Steven Price

4 hours ago | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

WaterTower Music has released a first track from the score to director David Ayer’s highly anticipated Suicide Squad, featuring the music of Academy Award-Winning composer Steven Price.

Price was tasked with navigating musically the colorful storyline of an assembled team of the world’s most dangerous Super-Villains and the emotional highs and lows they experience on an impossible mission.

“David’s film invited me to find a way to bring all of these incredible misfit outsiders together as a united force, with a thematic score that goes from moments of quiet emotion to huge action sequences,” explains Price. “The character’s themes interact and develop as the film progresses, and we witness the birth of the Suicide Squad. The score was a huge challenge, but a fantastic amount of fun to write!”

There’s a mid credits scene at the end of ‘Suicide Squad’

5 hours ago | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Suicide Squad mid-credits scene confirmed, but what or who will it feature?

More news on the Suicide Squad mid-credits scene below.

With just a week to until Suicide Squad hits cinemas, it has been confirmed that a Suicide Squad mid-credits scene is an actual thing. Sources over at ComicBook.com have stated that we will be treated to an extra scene at the end of the forthcoming DC villains movie, which is being directed by David Ayer.

The site explains:

After the credits sequence rolls (that’s also called the “bumper,” the part before the plain black-and-white names and characters part rolls), using the same stylized hyper-colored imagery they’ve used in the posters and character art, there’s one more scene waiting for you on the other side. It’s pivotal and important, too.

Wow! Exciting stuff. Well, this time next week we’ll know what exactly that scene »

Jared Leto on succeeding Heath Ledger as The Joker in Suicide Squad

6 hours ago | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

In a week from now, Warner Bros. and DC will unleash their latest take on The Joker with Jared Leto’s portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime in the DC Extended Universe supervillain team-up Suicide Squad. Leto has of course some rather large shoes to fill – including Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning turn in 2008’s The Dark Knight – and the actor has been chatting to Rolling Stone about following that iconic performance.

“Heath did an impeccable, perfect performance as the Joker,” said Leto, who becomes the fourth actor to play The Joker in live-action on the big screen after Cesar Romero (Batman: The Movie), Jack Nicholson (Batman) and Ledger. “It’s one of the best performances ever in cinema. I had met Heath before. I didn’t know him well, but he was a beautiful person. I think had it only been portrayed by Heath and it was never a comic book, »

Take A New Look At Task Force X In Latest Images From Suicide Squad

There’s just one week to go until the release of Suicide Squad, and while the embargo has not yet lifted on reviews, online buzz points to this being a real winner for Warner Bros.

The studio needs that after the mixed response to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, a movie which disappointingly failed to reach $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Should Suicide Squad overperform – and the signs are pointing to a huge opening weekend – that would go a long way in restoring faith in the DC Films Universe for both Warner Bros. and moviegoers.

Final Suicide Squad Cast List Reveals The Identities Of Several Supporting Characters & Spoils A Major Cameo

22 hours ago | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Well, it's official: the Batman won't be the only member of the Justice League to pay a visit to the Suicide Squad when they storm into theaters next weekend.  Warner Bros., in an official press kit sent out to media members today, has unveiled the final cast list for the David Ayer-directed film, and it reveals a major cameo that they probably should've/could've waited another week to spoil. Which cameo exactly? It's the Flash! Yes, Ezra Miller has been confirmed to appear as the Scarlet Speedster at some point during the film. The Hollywood Reporter adds that WB decided to incorporate him into the picture late in the production process, possibly during reshoots, and that he'll appear in an early scene with Jai Courtney's notorious Captain Boomerang.  On another note, despite being heavily featured in the trailers and promos, the cast list makes no mention of Ben Affleck as Batman, »

Step aside, Jared Leto. No-one’s impressed that you sent used condoms and anal beads to your fellow Suicide Squad cast members all in the name of method acting. Sure, that’s one way to attract attention for your new, Ker-azy take on The Joker, but Jai Courtney’s potentially got you beat.

It’s no secret that director David Ayer pushed his cast to the limit during filming. In addition to Leto’s self-directed antics, Ayer apparently made Task Force X punch each other in the face. Talking to Empire Magazine (via Batman News), Courtney revealed how much farther this behavior went when he arrived for a seemingly-normal meeting with his director:

“I turned up to discuss my look, expecting we’d have a long discussion and slowly he refine it. David [Ayer] just walked right in, picked up »

How Fast Is the Flash in Justice League?

23 hours ago | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

There were an awful lot of surprises that dropped last weekend during San Diego Comic-Con, but without a doubt the Justice League teaser trailer was the most buzzed about thing to come out of the convention. The footage showed off bits and pieces of the various members of the team, but we probably got our best look at Ezra Miller as The Flash. We know he's fast, but the scene shows just how fast he really is, and now science has stepped in to get a little more specific about Barry Allen's speed.

The website thescienceof.org decided it would be fun to mathmatically figure out exactly how fast The Flash was moving in the footage. Even though the process to figure it out is a bit complicated, they break down the whole thing step by step in a way that is pretty easy to understand. Essentially, they looked at »

With memorable roles in the Divergent trilogy and Unbroken, he never fails to make an impression. Whether you're his number one fan or you still need to get acquainted, it's time to educate yourself about all of the physical symptoms that come along with seeing Jai before he appears on screen in Suicide Squad in August, like shivering, sweating, and other important bodily functions. How Did Jai Courtney Prepare For Suicide Squad? By Taking Shrooms And Self Harming, Obviously

28 July 2016 12:34 PM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

We already know that Jai Courtney got super jacked for his role as Captain Boomerang in Suicide Squad, but it turns out that his preparation for the movie involved more than hitting the gym every day! The latest issue of Empire Magazine (via Batman-News) sees the actor reveal that he took things to a very strange place during a Skype chat with director David Ayer as he went full on Boomer.  "That night I happened to eat some mushrooms, and I did self-inflict some burns," he explained before recounting a bizarre meeting with Ayer a little later on in the production. "I turned up to discuss my look, expecting we’d have a long discussion and slowly he refine it. David [Ayer] just walked right in, picked up some clippers and started shearing chunks of hair off my head, Eventually he said, ‘You look like bad news.’ Then he left." Oh, »

Suicide Squad is everywhere. It’s plastered over billboards and public transport across the nation, occupying headlines left, right and center and, as has been the case for much of production, feeding the rumor mill with more enticing tidbits than we can count. The latest, for instance, seemingly reveals a cameo role for another member of the Justice League beyond Ben Affleck’s Batman.

And so, with all hands on deck, Warner Bros. has rolled out yet another featurette for the David Ayer-directed flick, this time taking a deep dive into the dark corners of Belle Reve, the high-security mad house that the Suicide Squad consider their base of operations. What’s more, there’s also a clip featuring Boomerang (Jai Courtney) plotting his escape.

Suicide Squad Credits Confirm Another Superhero Cameo

28 July 2016 11:11 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

We’ve known for about a year now that Ben Affleck’s Batman will play a small role in Suicide Squad, but ever since the latest trailer (seen above) dropped this past weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, analytical fans and journalists have theorized that he won’t be the only member of the Justice League to make an appearance.

Well, it turns out that if you thought the lightning during one of the snippets involving Boomerang signified the presence of The Flash, you were right. According to credits included in a freshly released press kit, Ezra Miller has been confirmed to return as the Scarlet Speedster, having made his first onscreen appearance as the character earlier this year in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Suicide Squad is still to hit theaters and already David Ayer’s posse of anti-heroes have all but cemented their place as household names.

Much of that, of course, comes down to the comic book star power of the Joker et al., but there’s no question that the sheer style and personality emanating from Warner Bros.’ imminent tentpole has upped their stock considerably – particularly among those moviegoers who perhaps aren’t as familiar with the lore as ardent fans.
