WWE Nxt 09/28/16 Review – Hideo Itami vs. Lince Dorado, Asuka vs. Liv Morgan and more

Shaun Eddleston reviews the September 28th edition of Nxt…

Following a promising epeisode of Nxt last week (read my review here), this week we’re likely getting closer to the point where the next Takeover card will need to take shape. Challengers for each championship will emerge, rivalries will intensify, and matches will be signed. Will that begin tonight? Who would Samoa Joe beat down? Can Asuka be defeated? What’s next for Bobby Roode?

This week’s Nxt kicked off in an empty Nxt arena, Nxt General Manager William Regal remembered Dusty Rhodes who passed away a little over a year ago, and then announced the second annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament. He said there will be 16 teams with the finals taking place at Nxt Takeover Toronto in November. He announced that the brackets will be unveiled on social media over the next few days, and the »

Is Cesaro leaving WWE?! Triple H puts him over backstage!

29 September 2016 9:04 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The last month has seen Cesaro embark on a strange creative direction. He was put in a best of seven series with Sheamus for a championship title shot, lost the first three matches – which is standard for a babyface – and then made a valiant comeback to overcome Sheamus with…a draw.

The referee called off the series finale at Clash of Champions after deciding both men couldn’t continue. This led to Mick Foley announcing the next night on Raw that both Sheamus and Cesaro would get a title shot…as a team…for the WWE Tag Team Championships.

Earlier this month, 411mania reported that there were rumours Cesaro’s WWE contract is coming to an end, with between 30 and 45 days left on his deal. Ever since Vince McMahon criticised the Swiss Superman on the Stone Cold Podcast, Cesaro has become increasingly vocal against WWE – angrily shooting on being drafted »

Shaun Eddleston reviews WWE Clash Of Champions 2016…

The Card:

WWE Universal Championship – Kevin Owens (C) vs. Seth Rollins United States Championship – Rusev (C) vs. Roman Reigns Raw Women’s Championship – Bayley vs. Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte (C) Raw Tag Team Championship – The New Day (C) vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson WWE Cruiserweight Championship – Tj Perkins (C) vs Brian Kendrick Chris Jericho vs. Sami Zayn Nia Jax vs. Alicia Fox (Pre-show match)

Match 1 – Nia Jax vs. Alicia Fox (Pre-Show match)

Alicia Fox fired away at Nia Jax as the match opened, but the powerhouse soon flattened her.

Jax stalked her opponent, kicking her in the back, flinging her across the ring. Fox managed a bit of offense that stunned Jax. Strength overcame courage in the end, though.

Jax beat down Fox, finishing her off after a very short match

Thoughts: The match partially showed off Jax’s power and ferocity, but »

Five new matches added to WWE Clash of Champions

20 September 2016 1:25 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Ahead of this Sunday’s PPV, Raw last night added four new matches to Clash of Champions, and amended one other.

In the opening segment of the show, following the events from last week’s Raw, Gm Mick Foley announced that Roman Reigns would take on Rusev for the United States Championship. The two met for the title back at Summerslam which ended in a no contest when the match didn’t even start.

Last week saw Sasha Banks beat Bayley and Dana Brooke in a three-way to become the new number one contender for the WWE Women’s Championship, but the ending caused some controversy when Banks’s shoulders were also on the mat when she pinned Bayley. It was announced last night that Bayley has been added into the match at Clash of Champions now. This will be her first shot at the WWE Women’s Championship since »

5 Things Happening in the World of Pro Wrestling

16 September 2016 9:09 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

1.Cm Punk lost his match against Mickey Gall at Ufc 203 this past week. While the outcome was pretty much expected by just about everyone, I have to give the guy credit. He had a dream he wanted to realize and despite the list of injuries he’s obtained through the years in the wrestling ring as well as being in his late thirties, an older age to start competing in combat sports like Mma, he fulfilled his dream. Not many people can say they did that especially with such odds stacked against them. With that being said, folks had some fun after the match creating some meme’s. While some weren’t in the best of taste, there was a funny one. I’ll leave that here.

2.Tj Perkins won the inaugural WWE Cruiserweight Classic, which was shown exclusively on the WWE Network. As the winner, he also becomes the »

Women’s Championship – Natalya vs. Naomi vs. Carmella vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Becky Lynch vs. Nikki Bella (Six-Pack Elimination Challenge)

Match 1 – Apollo Crews vs. Baron Corbin (Pre-Show match)

Booked during the Backlash pre-show as a result of a backstage encounter between the two, the first matchup of the evening saw the speed and atleticism of Apollo Crews take on the strength and brute force of Baron Corbin.

Crews withstood a ton of punishment from Corbin, including a huge clothesline that turned him inside out, but he fired back with several major maneuvers including »

Tyson Kidd’s WWE contract expiring soon, unlikely to be resigned

9 September 2016 12:54 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

PWTorch is reporting that the end of Tyson Kidd‘s WWE contract is coming up next month and it seems highly unlikely that WWE will be resigning him under a performer’s contract.

The three-time WWE Tag Team Champion’s neck and spine were injured in a freak accident in June last year after taking Samoa Joe‘s ‘Muscle Buster’ at the end of a Monday Night Raw dark match. It was originally reported that Kidd would be out of action for over a year but due to the injury being so severe, it’s been speculated that he may never return to a ring again.

Shaun Eddleston reviews the September 6th edition of Smackdown Live…

We are now merely days away from the first Smackdown-branded PPV, Backlash, which is still currently a 5 match event. This week’s Smackdown Live promised to push the hype surrounding those matches; Who would progress on to the Tag Team Tournament Finals? Will Randy Orton cave in to Bray Wyatt’s mindgames? What will happen when Aj Styles and Dean Ambrose come face to face in a ring before their upcoming title match?

Women’s Championship Forum

To kick things off, SmackDown general manager Daniel Bryan welcomed to the ring Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella and the other women who are set to face off in the Six-Pack Challenge at Backlash.

Lynch talked about how much winning the title would mean to her. Natalya, Alexa Bliss and Carmella soon joined her in the ring, bickering among each other. Naomi and Nikki »

Kevin Owens Wins WWE Universal Championship! What’s His First Feud? | WrestleTalk News

The following is a guest post from WrestleTalk. Subscribe to their YouTube channel for new videos every day.

In this episode of the WrestleTalk News, Kevin Owens wins the WWE Universal Championship! We’ve got a bunch of reactions from other wrestlers on Twitter, along with who Owens’ first feud might be against, and a few interesting factoids. Also, Rip Mr. Fuji.

Mr. Fuji Passes Away

Our top story is that Kevin Owens became the new WWE Universal Champion on Raw last night. I’m still so happy. But first, we’ve got to bring it down unfortunately, as WWE Hall of Famer Mr Fuji passed away over the weekend.

Harry Fujiwara spent over 30 years in the WWE, where he became a 5-time World Tag Team Champion – mainly by throwing salt into people’s eyes – to transition into a manager role later in his career – most notably for Yokozuna, who »

WWE legend Harry "Mr. Fuji" Fujiwara dead at 82

29 August 2016 7:44 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Legendary WWE wrestler and manager Harry Fujiwara, known in the squared circle as Mr. Fuji, passed away on Sunday. He was 82. Fujiwara was one of WWE’s great villains. During his 30-year career, he was a five-time World Tag Team Champion and later a manager to such well-known pro grapplers as George “The Animal” Steele, Demolition and “Magnificent” Don Muraco. Typically donning a tuxedo and bowler hat during his managerial days, he looked like another famous bad guy - Oddjob from the James Bond film Goldfinger. Paul Levesque (a.k.a. "Triple H") mourned Fujiwara on Twitter as he wrote, “An unforgettable character in front of the camera and an even better one behind it. Rest in Peace, Mr. Fuji.” Fujiwara retired from the WWE in 1996 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. In a remembrance of Fujiwara, the WWE posted their introductory video for his HoF induction on Twitter. »

Upon retiring from the ring, Mr. Fuji became one of the most well-known heel managers in the industry. Among his superstar clients were George “The Animal” Steele, Kamala, Killer Khan, Demolition, The Powers of Pain, Yokozuna and most notably, “Magnificent” Don Muraco. »

Preview: WWE Summerslam – Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton, Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler, Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte and more

21 August 2016 7:00 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Right, I get that WWE are turning Summerslam into the WrestleMania of the summer and that’s great – but does this need to be a six-hour show? With the two hours of Nxt Takeover: Brooklyn II the night before, three hours of Raw and two hours of Smackdown – we’ve got fourteen hours of wrestling over four days. It’s a lot to take in!

But ignoring that, what do we have on the show? Well we’ve got Lesnar’s least interesting match since his return in 2013, a brand new title to make sure the WWE Championship is devalued and… other stuff. And no Sami Zayn. Guess there’s just no room on the card for The Underdog from the Underground.

This really is Lesnar’s least interesting match, and one that does nothing for either man. With Orton still being pushed as one »

Preview: Nxt Takover: Brooklyn II – Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka vs. Bayley, Bobby Roode and Ember Moon debut

20 August 2016 5:00 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Last year’s Nxt Takover: Brooklyn was one of the best shows of the entire year. Some might even argue it was the first event that really put Nxt on the map, showcasing the amazing talent on the roster in front of a sell-out crowd of 13,000 fans with an all-time classic wins for Bayley and Finn Balor, and the debut of Samoa Joe. Well, one year on, and Finn Balor is now part of the Raw roster fighting for WWE Universal Championship at Summerslam and Samoa Joe is the Nxt Champion. Bayley is also – for some reason – still in Nxt.

This year’s Nxt Takeover: Brooklyn II might not have the same feel as last year’s, but there are some amazing match ups on the card – and it again stands every chance of beating Summerslam in terms of match quality.

Finn Balor Debuts! Raw Championship Title Announced! | WWE Raw 07/25/16 Review

The following is a guest post from WrestleTalk. Subscribe to their YouTube channel for new videos every day.

A new set! A new logo! A new opening video package! A new piece of entrance music! A new announcer! A new kind of in-ring interview! A New Era – for realsies. This is the 25th July edition of WWE Monday Night Raw…in about 4 minutes.

Raw Re-debuts!

Raw was really good from the opening frame. Shinedown’s Enemies is a much better theme than Tonight Is the Night, the opening video package hit the ground running – even though there was a worryingly long shot of Braun Strowman – and the new Raw graphics straddle old and new remarkably well. I don’t even mind Triple H’s secret Illuminati code.

With the announcers now by the entrance ramp, WCW Nitro style, Raw’s two authority figures opened the show…and then were never seen again. »
