Paramore to tour in smaller venues

12 July 2009 8:40 PM, PDT | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news

Paramore have announced that they are planning to perform in smaller venues on their upcoming headlining tour. The band, who have been playing large arenas while opening for No Doubt in the Us, have said that they would like to perform in more intimate settings for their fans to be able to afford ticket prices. Singer Hayley Williams told MTV: "We haven't hashed it all out yet, but it will be smaller due to the fact that the tour we're (more)

Maybe it's because they've spent their summer performing before stone-faced No Doubt fans in 15,000-seat amphitheaters and palatial hockey arenas, but when it came time to plan their own tour, Paramore decided to go small. Like, really small.

While they're still figuring out the dates for their tour in support of the upcoming Brand New Eyes LP, they already know what kind of venues they want to play: the kind they've been playing for years.

"We haven't hashed it all out yet, but it will be smaller, due to the fact that the tour we're doing right now is so large and, like, ticket prices are on a whole new level ... everything is a whole new level for us," frontwoman Hayley Williams told MTV News. "And we love it,

Review: Does Paramore's new single, 'Ignorance' need decoding?

6 July 2009 11:32 PM, PDT | From Hitfix.com | See recent Hitfix news

Punk pop band fronted by Hayley Williams spits out "Ignorance is your new best friend" on "Ignorance," the first single from its forthcoming  CD, "Brand New Eyes," out Sept. 29. With its clipped lyrics and fast-paced melody, the spunky "Ignorance" sounds like it could be from Fall Out Boy--just substitute Patrick Stump for Williams.  It's quick, catchy and very appealing-think  "Misery Business 2009" in terms of the peppiness. While "Ignorance" breaks no new ground for  Paramore, the performance shows an increased level of confidence, no doubt brought about from the success from the band's appearance on the "Twilight" soundtrack and seemingly endless...

Paramore Say 'No Animals Were Harmed In The Making Of This Record'

By now, you've probably seen the cover of Paramore's upcoming Brand New Eyes album (and if you haven't, well, here), which very artfully depicts a freshly dissected butterfly.

It's a pretty striking (and strikingly pretty) image, so, on the same day we spoke to Paramore about the title of their new record, we decided to ask them to tell us the story behind that butterfly too. Turns out — like pretty much everything on Eyes — there's a personal connection.

"The cover is actually a butterfly I found in my driveway one day, and it was huge and really gorgeous and we clipped its wings off and pinned its body and its wings up to the fence in my backyard," frontwoman Hayley Williams said. "I've had [it] forever in this box in my mom's house.

Paramore On Sunny Day Real Estate: ‘It’s A Spiritual Experience’

29 June 2009 3:01 PM, PDT | From MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news

While in the midst of talking to Paramore about their upcoming new album Brand New Eyes, MTV’s James Montgomery paused to discuss a mutual source of admiration for both he and the band: Sunny Day Real Estate. The Seattle quartet recently announced their reunion, and the members of Paramore (who cover Sunny Day Real Estate’s “Faces in Disguise” regularly) couldn’t be happier.

“It’s like a religious kind of experience,” said Hayley Williams. “We were all too young to go to one of their shows, but now, I will fly out to see one of those shows.”

Guitarist Taylor York has a particular affection for the group’s six-string work. “Sometimes their guitar lines sound Middle Eastern,” he says. “It’s weird, but I like it.”

On Thursday, while the majority of the world was first learning of the death of Michael Jackson, Paramore announced the title of their much-anticipated new album. Needless to say, the news got lost in the shuffle.

In case you missed it, the album is called Brand New Eyes, and it will hit stores on September 29. And since this is a fairly big deal — after all, Eyes follows Riot!, an album that sold a million copies and turned Paramore into one of the biggest rock bands in the world today — we decided to ask Hayley Williams and company to explain the meaning behind that title.

"It was meant to be a song on the record," Williams told MTV News. "It was one of the first songs we put together,

Paramore's New Album Is Finished, New Songs to Be Played on Tour

Paramore's new album is confirmed to have been finished, and the band are now looking forward to showcase two of its new songs during their opening set for No Doubt's summer tour. "You're excited about [the album] 'cause it's done and you just want to go out and play those songs," drummer Zac Farro tells Billboard.

However, Zac admits that "there's a lot that has to be done" before they bring out the songs to public. He adds, "So it doesn't come out for awhile and you're just going back and playing your other two records when you just want to play all the new stuff."

Speaking further about the band's new effort, Zac is pleased that people recognize mature sounds in the album. "A lot of people have told us that (the album) is a very mature sound," he states. "I don't think we were aiming to be just more mature or whatever,

There's quite an epic battle brewing for Best Song From a Movie at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. There's not a genre left unturned, and every type of movie is represented by the nominated songs.

The category is split between Oscar-nominated songs like A.R. Rahman's "Jai Ho" from "Slumdog Millionaire" and Bruce Springsteen's title track for "The Wrestler." But don't count out the teen-girl power: Paramore's "Twilight" theme "Decode" is competing against Miley Cyrus' empowerment ballad "The Climb" from "Hannah Montana."

The clear front-runners seem to be Paramore and Cyrus, since they each hail from tween-favorite soundtracks. Paramore also gets a push from the Twilighter community, which is very, very loyal to all things "Twilight."

No disrespect to Springsteen and Rahman,

‘Twilight’ Director Catherine Hardwicke Invites Us Over To Talk Movie Awards

28 May 2009 6:14 PM, PDT | From MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news

Hi, Twilighters! Today, I had the great pleasure of spending the day at the home of “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke. She has a beautiful place a stone’s throw away from the world-famous Venice Beach, and we paid her a visit to talk about her film’s seven nominations at the MTV Movie Awards and relive the first time Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson met.

It was a great day of filming, and believe me: “Twilight” fans are not going to want to miss any of this!

We talked about the first “chemistry screen test” between Kristen and Rob. Kristen had to act out a scene with five different potential Edwards, one after another, with Catherine deciding that Robert was “the one” the first time the two kissed — which, as all Twilighters know, happened in Catherine’s bedroom.

That all led up to the scene that is now a favourite

Hayley Williams on Paramore's New Album: 'I Felt a Lot Heavier'

23 May 2009 12:46 AM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Paramore's lead singer Hayley Williams has opened up about what they are up to for the band's new album, stating that she feels "a lot heavier" in it. "I wrote ['Misery Business'] about a past experience, and I had already seen the outcome and gotten through everything. And that's the same with every song on the record, even the ones that weren't that personal. ... But this record, I felt a lot heavier," she tells MTV.

"We'd be at practice, and I didn't even like some of the songs at first, because of my parts, because I was like, 'This isn't a feel-good song, because I'm writing about something I'm going through right now, and it's still painful,' " Hayley continues her explanation. "And I confused that with actually not liking the songs, when actually I was prouder of them than I've ever been before. They're heavier emotions for me. ...
