Exclusive: Canadian outfit Marina Cordoni Entertainment is taking the title to the Efm.
Toronto’s Marina Cordoni Entertainment is in Berlin with the world market premiere of the Butler Brothers’ heist comedy First Round Down.
The feature centres on the misadventures of a former ice hockey prodigy. Dylan Bruce plays the lead as a former athlete and hitman on the straight and narrow who returns home to care for his younger brother and finds his chequered past catching up with him. Rachel Wilson and Rob Ramsay also star.
Substance Productions produced First Round Down in association with Marina Cordoni Entertainment, Telefilm Canada and Unobstructed View.
Cordoni has just licensed worldwide rights excluding Canada on Gail Harvey’s upcoming thriller Never Saw It Coming to Jay Firestone’s Prodigy Pictures. Katie Boland stars in the film, which is set to begin shooting on March 23.

Video Service Corp has acquired all Us and Canadian rights to Brett and Jason Butler’s sophomore feature First Round Down and plan a mid-2016 release.
The Butler brothers’ Substance Production and Marina Cordoni produce with support from Telefilm and Canadian federal and provincial tax credits.
Dylan Bruce of Orphan Black plays Tim Tucker, a former ice junior hockey star who ties to move on from his criminal past.
The Canadian cast includes Rachel Wilson, John Kapelos, Kristian Bruun, Rob Ramsay, Peter MacNeill and Percy Hynes White.
Vsc founder Jonathan Gross brokered the deal with McE’s Marina Cordoni.

It’s one thing for a fantasy film to make no sense, but Patch Town’s problem is that its premise isn’t just unintelligible — it’s downright dumb. Based on his short film, director Craig Goodwill’s feature concerns a magical factory (ostensibly located, in secret, on the outskirts of mainstream society?) where a wicked businessman (Julian Richings) has assembly-line workers remove babies from cabbages and then use a machine to turn those babies into children’s dolls, which he sells to little girls. When those toys are eventually abandoned by their all-grown-up owners, they return to this factory to work as reanimated people.

Hollyoaks has landed a product placement contract with cosmetics and beauty company L'Oréal, it has been announced. Channel 4 and Hollyoaks' production company Lime Pictures have secured a six-month deal with the firm, Broadcast reports. L'Oréal products will now appear in a number of settings on the show, including at the village's gym. They may also feature on adverts displayed on the local bus stop. The deal was brokered by media agency ZenithOptimedia, Channel 4's sponsorship, placement and funded content business manager Vicky Kell, Channel 4's partnership lead Rob Ramsay and Lime Pictures' managing director Sean Marley. Following a highly successful run at the Toronto International Film Festival (Tiff), Craig Goodwill director/writer of the short film Patch Town today announced Montreal-based Suki Films is on board to co-produce a feature version of the film. Patch Town has received high praise from the press, industry and the public throughout Tiff and is expected to travel the festival circuit with Sudbury International Film festival (Cinefest) as its next stop. The short stars Lisa Ray and Rob Ramsay, and is produced/written by Catherine Gourdier, produced by Anneli Ekborn and co-produced by David Sparkes. .After watching the wondrous satirical fairytale that is Patch Town and meeting Craig Goodwill we knew that we had no other choice but to extend the story into a feature,. said Kimberley Berlin and Susan Schneir of Suki Films. .The idea of the film is so unique and universal that we know it must be told.
