Eros International Media Limited (Eros International), a leading global company in the Indian film entertainment industry, has announced a strategic alliance with veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani by signing a term sheet to acquire a 50% stake in his film company, Puja Entertainment & Films Ltd. Under this joint venture, blockbuster hits of the 90s known better as the 'No 1' series including Hero No 1, Coolie No 1 and Biwi No 1 will be the among the first of Vashu Bhagnani films to be remade. The deal will also allow Eros International access to Puja Entertainment's vast library of all-time hits like Bade Miya Chote Miya, Rehna Hai Tere Dil Main and F.A.L.T.U. In addition to the remakes of some of these all-time hits, several new projects are in the pipeline as well. Kishore Lulla, Chairman, Eros International, spoke at the inauguration ceremony of India pavilion at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, about Eros’ plans to give Indian content a global platform by forging new partnerships with countries such as China.
Also present at the ceremony was Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting.
Eros International has an exciting line up films to come in 2016 including the hit franchise comedy Housefull 3 and Rohit Dhawan’s Dishoom starring John Abraham and Varun Dhawan continuing Eros’ successful association with producer Sajid Nadiadwala. Also on the docket are the exciting films Baar Baar Dekho, a love story starring Katrina Kaif and Siddharth Malhotra, the action packed Ajay Devgn directed Shivaay and the highly anticipated rock musical franchise Rock On 2 featuring Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor.

Bollywood distribution giant Eros Intl. is positioning itself to explode in the Indian and Asian regional film industries via co-productions between India and China. And Eros chairman Kishore Lulla says that producing the first $1 billion-grossing film from Asia is now a corporate objective.
“The idea of a $1 billion grossing movie from Asia is no longer unrealistic,” Lulla told Variety in Cannes. “China has proved that it can make movies that gross $400 million at the box office. Indian movies are now making up to $100 million. Given the pace of growth of these two markets and the strength of our partner, $1 billion is only a few years away.”
To date there have only been 24 movies that have scored more than that total. And all are English-language.
