The Walking Dead, Ep. 4.15 “Us” just isn’t enough to get me coming back for season five

24 March 2014 6:24 PM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

The Walking Dead, Season 4, Episode 15: “Us”

Directed by Greg Nicotero

Written by Nichole Beattie & Seth Hoffman

Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on AMC

Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

Last week, I made it pretty clear how much I disliked “The Grove,” calling it the worst episode in the series so far. “Us” doesn’t do much to change the fact that after four seasons of watching and reviewing The Walking Dead, I’ve decided I am breaking up with the show. In the past, I asked for slower and more character-focused episodes. Character is action I say, and while The Walking Dead has taken this approach these last few weeks, it’s also been more often than not, incredibly boring. Splitting everyone into small groups and dispersing them was a wise decision on the part of the writers. The majority of instalments worked extremely well, »

The Walking Dead season 4 episode 15 review: Us

24 March 2014 12:08 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Review Ron Hogan 24 Mar 2014 - 07:06

The penultimate episode in The Walking Dead's fourth season reaches an uneasy conclusion. Here's Ron's review...

This review contains spoilers.

4.15 Us

The tracks to Terminus stretch onward, but it seems that the more our groups walk, the closer they get to one another. Carol sees the fire from Daryl and Beth's moonshine arson party. Glenn follows Maggie's clues. Michonne drops a candy bar wrapper and Daryl walks right over it. All roads, or all tracks in this case, lead to Rome and the promise of safety and sanctuary within Terminus. Those who arrive survive, the signs promise, but is that the case? Is Terminus too good to be true?

We get our first glimpse of that promised land this week in an episode that takes great pains to showcase every character, save Beth, for a few moments at a time. Rick and Carl and Michonne get a glimpse, »

Glenn is More About Me than "Us" on "The Walking Dead:" A Television Review

23 March 2014 10:55 PM, PDT | 28 Days Later Analysis | See recent 28 Days Later Analysis news »

Director: Greg Nicotero. Writers: Robert Kirkman and Nichole Beattie. Cast: Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs and Danai Gurira. Well, viewers have almost made it to the end of another season of "The Walking Dead." Epis. 15, titled "Us," is the second to last episode of the season and it mostly floundered for this viewer. Perhaps, one watcher might be becoming too jaded by the long journey to Terminus (even though there are ribs there). In this episode, three groups of survivors continued to head to the end of the tracks. Daryl (Norman Reedus) has found himself in bad company, while Glenn (Steven Yeun) finally reunites with Maggie (Lauren Cohan). Eugene (Josh McDermitt), the redneck scientist, promises salvation but this might be a very big white lie. "Us" was another character focused story, in which plot and action were relegated to the sidelines. There were two major »

David S. Goyer Did Not Direct The Walking Dead Episode 415

20 March 2014 11:46 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Last summer, it was revealed that David S. Goyer would be directing the fifteenth episode The Walking Dead Season 4, but the official credits that were recently released listed Greg Nicotero as the director. We’ve seen some conflicting reports, so we wanted to provide The Walking Dead fans with official word from AMC.

This started with a quote from David S. Goyer from a DC Entertainment party last July via i09:

“I’m doing a Walking Dead this year — the penultimate episode [of the season]. I haven’t gotten my script yet… I heard it’s an episode where something really bad happens.”

The writer and director is known for his work on Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies, the Blade movies, and he wrote the screenplay for Man of Steel. With DC pushing forward on Batman/Superman and Justice League movies, we weren’t sure he had the time available and that »

Get a better idea of what to expect by checking out the first photos and preview videos:

“Following the devastating events of the mid-season finale, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the group are still reeling from the loss of their home, family and friends. With the destruction of the prison, the group of survivors is broken apart and sent on divergent paths, unsure of everyone else’s fate. What was a challenging life behind fences and walls grows that much more perilous and precious as they are exposed to new dangers, new enemies and heartbreaking choices. Exclusive Q&A with The Walking Dead’s Meyrick Murphy

27 February 2014 8:47 AM, PST | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

During this season of The Walking Dead, we’ve been highlighting many of the show’s young actors and actresses, and our exclusive Q&A series continues with Meyrick Murphy, who plays Meghan Chambler. Continue reading to learn what she had to say about joining The Walking Dead, working with David Morrissey, and hanging out with zombies:

Thank you for taking the time to talk with us today. Can you tell us how you became involved with The Walking Dead? Was there an audition? Can you tell us about your experience?

Meyrick Murphy: Aww, thank you! One day my agent sent a script along with a ton of Nda’s (nondisclosure agreements) and told me I was taping an audition for The Walking Dead. I did the audition and a few weeks went by. I didn’t think anything really came of it but then I got a callback! »

The Walking Dead, Ep. 4.11 “Claimed” an entertaining, if somewhat average, episode

24 February 2014 6:23 PM, PST | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

Josh McDermitt

The Walking Dead, Season 4, Episode 11: “Claimed”

Directed by Seith Mann

Written by Nichole Beattie & Seth Hoffman

Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on AMC

The Walking Dead’s midseason finale saw the various characters scattered in the wake of the prison assault, with the two episodes since the return picking up on the immediate aftermath. With Rick and Glenn both physically depleted by the prison assault and the events leading up to it, their situations seemed the most precarious. This week’s episode focuses on the two characters, as well as those surrounding them, in a solid episode that nonetheless highlights a major flaw with the series as a whole.

The character of Eugene, and the purpose he brings, is an interesting development for the show. The group’s venture to the Cdc in the show’s first season effectively destroyed any possibility of the zombies being cured, »

The Walking Dead season 4 episode 11 review: Claimed

23 February 2014 4:43 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Review Ron Hogan 24 Feb 2014 - 07:00

The Walking Dead introduces some new faces in this week's tense episode. Here's Ron's review...

This review contains spoilers.

4.11 Claimed

There's a pattern to the behaviour that Rick Grimes has established. Once he gets to a nice, relatively safe location, he doesn't like to stray too far from that locale. He'll go on supply runs and stuff, but Rick is apparently the homebody in The Walking Dead's universe, which explains why he's decided to hang around at their borrowed house for another day or two, to get his strength back and make a plan on what to do next. It's a good idea in theory, especially since Carl and Michonne can go find food while Rick curls up with a good book, but it's a bad idea in the television world, because there's no such thing as a safe place.
