While some celebrities turn to social media to help raise funds for their independent movies, Jason Reitman (Labor Day) is looking for a purer form of assistance, in the currency of information. On his Twitter account today, Reitman posted a bit of dialogue and a character description for a role in his upcoming, and as of yet untitled film. From what Reitman posted, it sounds as if he's looking for a younger version of Quinton Aaron, whose breakthrough role came by playing Michael Oher in The Blind Side. Production is currently under way in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Left Behind, a new adaptation of the popular Christian-themed novels by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. Legendary stuntman Vic Armstrong is back behind the camera for the first time since 1993s Army Of One with a remake of cult 2000 action/adventure Left Behind. Cloud Ten Pictures are financing the film based on the books written by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins, which have sold more than 65 million copies worldwide. The plot centres on an airborne 747 which is heading to London when, without any warning, passengers begin mysteriously disappearing from their seats. As terror and chaos begin to spread to the remaining passengers and those on the ground, it’s left to those survivors to discover why they’re the ones facing an apocalypse.
Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage leads the cast which also includes Chad Michael Murray, Cassi Thomson, Nicky Whelan, Lea Thompson, Jordan Sparks, Quinton Aaron, Martin Klebba, and via the official Facebook page and you can check out the first set stills from the film.
