Yet More Poltergeist-Like Parody in Paranormal Whacktivity Preview

A 'Paranormal Activity' spoof you say!? Well isn't that just brimming over with originality. Roger Roth's 'Paranormal Whacktivity' (yes, I know) is the latest to join the long queue of achingly amateurish attempts to shift the creepy experiences of Oren Peli's original found footage horror shocker into the realm of giggles, guffaws and general snickerings. If only the genre wasn't already awash with titles such as Kevin P. Farley's 'Paranormal Movie', porn parody 'Paranormal Activity: A Hardcore Parody', Marlon Wayans' 'A Haunted House', 'Scary Movie 5' and even the dreadful '30 Nights Of Paranormal Activity With The Devil Inside The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'. The Whack stars Sasha Formoso (below), Patrick Riley, Brianna Nicole, Mighty Mike Murga, Brie Doffing, Jenna Bryant, Sundai Love, Chanel Ryan and Aneliese Roettger amongst others. Check out the one-sheet and trailer below.

Edit Bay Visit: Skyline Takes Shape at Hydraulix

Skyline's cast and crew discuss this new alien invasion movie from Colin and Greg Strause After visual effects gurus-turned directors Colin Strause and Greg Strause made their directorial debut with Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem, they knew they had to find an easier way to make movies outside of the studio system. Just three years after Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem, they found a way to make that happen with their upcoming sci-fi thriller Skyline, which will be released in theaters nationwide on November 12.

We were recently invited to Hydraulix in Santa Monica, the visual effects company that the Brothers Strause have owned and run for several years, where I learned quite a great deal about Skyline. But first, we were invited into their posh screening room to take a look at some footage from the movie.

The first clip we were shown featured stars Donald Faison as Terry and Eric Balfour as Jarrod,

Skyline Vs. Battle: Los Angeles in Legal Trouble with Sony?

Skyline could face a lawsuit from Sony due to similarities with Battle: Los Angeles The city of Los Angeles will be invaded by aliens on the silver screen with two upcoming films, Universal's Skyline, due in theaters November 12, and Sony's Battle: Los Angeles, which will be released on March 11, 2011, and both films could be at the center of a legal battle, according to Deadline New York.

A lawsuit hasn't been filed yet, but the site is reporting that Sony is considering taking legal action against Universal and Relativity Media due to the similar themes of both films. Skyline directors Greg Strause and Colin Strause are at the center of this potential legal battle, since Sony hired the brothers' visual effects company Hydraulix to work on Battle: Los Angeles and apparently the brothers never informed Sony that they were making their own alien-invasion film, Skyline.

More Changes to the Universal Pictures Release Slate

Universal Pictures changes even more release dates for 2010 and 2011 We reported back in April that Universal Pictures was making some changes to its release slate and it seems they're making even more changes. The studio has shifted some more release dates, including the always-adjusting Matt Damon film The Adjustment Bureau, which will now be released on March 4, 2011. Our earlier report revealed that the film was shifting from its July 30 release to September 17, and now it will be moved into next spring.

Moving into the September 17 slot is the horror film Devil, which will be pushed up from its February 11, 2011 release date to its new fall home. We also reported yesterday that the film has dropped its "The Night Chronicles" banner from the title.

The studio also announced a November 12 release date for Skyline, which stars Eric Balfour, Brittany Daniel, Donald Faison and David Zayas and a December 3 release date for Kids in America.
