- Legendary Comedian Henny Youngman (known as "the king of the one liners") was close friends with Edna's family. He was a "godfather" to Edna and her brother Jonathan, when they were growing-up.
- Wrote-Directed-Co-starred in her first short movie at age 10, when she stole her family's home video camera and auditioned real actors for parts. Wrote, directed, and co-starred in her first professional project finally, at age 25, which later went on to air on PBS.
- At age 17, while still in high school herself, she volunteered to teach comedy improvisation to inner-city teenagers.
- At age 13, she became an award-winning published poet for the first time. She was later nominated as "poet of the year" by the National Library of Poetry in Washington, D.C. She has also won many writing awards for her short stories.

- At age five, she came up with an idea for a TV show. At age eight, a neighbor who was a professional writer loved the idea and wanted to help develop it. At age nine, a network head actually considered it for a professional pilot but it was never sold professionally.
- She was named after her father's sister.
- At age 9, she made her Broadway debut in a play which starred actors Christopher Reeve, Anthony Heald, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Dana Ivey.
- At age 11, she starred in a New York University Thesis film directed by Pamela Falk.
- She is a native of Midtown Manhattan, in the heart of New York City. At age 12, she moved from Midtown to the Riverdale section of the Bronx. At age 14, her family briefly lived in Los Angeles for one year, but quickly came back to New York.
- Attended both middle-school and high school at the Professional Childrens' School in Manhattan. Alums of the school include Maculay Culkin, Ricki Lake, Carrie Fisher, Christopher Walken, and Sandra Dee.
- Wrote and directed a short film that won her a merit scholarship to the School of Visual Arts. She went on to received her BFA from their film program.
