- A fusion of multiple cultures, Hawaiian born islander, Gregory (always prefers Greg) Quivos Van Cott is an actor, filmmaker, YouTube vlogger and musician. He descended from Filipino-Spanish-Galician heritage from the maternal side and Dutch-Irish-English from the paternal, making him a typical "melting pot" of ethnically-diverse Millennials. Director Bradford May made a shout out to him as "an honest, sharp millennial, a good listener with a talent for understanding subtleties in story."
His father is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol, in conjunction with the United States Air Force and a Vietnam War Veteran. Due to his father's time in the Air Force, his family moved often throughout the US including Honolulu, HI; Avalon, CO; York County, VA; Nellis, NV till finally residing in Sunrise Manor, NV for most of his childhood. He excelled in school (albeit hopping from school to school and was vocally not fond of the education system's hang-ups) where he successfully flew/skipped past grades in favor of the Gifted and Talented Education program. He developed hobbies in drawing and playing the clarinet in school talent shows; limiting any professional possibility as a clarinetist to only "doodling" at his father's music business convention booth at ClarinetFest.
His very first public on-camera appearance was for a 1996 school PSA called Earth Day Recycling, exhibiting his interests in the environment and informative learning. He graduated from UNLV with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in Film and Theatre, including off-shoot studies into entertainment law and psychology/sociology. He has written and directed a couple of features and several short films including All Eyes on Charlie, Let's Talk, and My Dinner with Othello as well as acting in many other directors' projects. On stage, he has performed in productions of Sherlock Holmes and the First Baker Street Irregular, Tosca, Balm in Gilead, Angel City, and Pecos Bill. He, to much of his surprise whilst still in the UNLV program, was hired as an Improv/Scene Study/Advanced Acting teacher at Casting Call Entertainment Acting School for 7 years, till it sadly closed in 2015 along with many other acting schools due to the state voting against tax incentives for the arts. He has enjoyed collaborations with one of his childhood heroes George Lazenby, documentary filmmakers Erik Hollander, James Gelet & Jake Gove, movie convention organizers Matt Sherman and Donna Honig, noted acting instructor Tom Todoroff, Opera Las Vegas director general Jim Sohre and producer/acquisitions/manager Sharry Flaherty.
In his spare time, Greg enjoys watching movies and shows, drawing, listening to music, great food and constant traveling.
