Stephen King Week: Creepshow Q&A with Adrienne Barbeau

31 October 2015 11:56 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

I love horror anthology films and like many of you out there, Creepshow is the one I judge all others against. Released in 1982, George A. Romero and Stephen King's tribute to EC Comics is filled with talented actors, but Adrienne Barbeau really steals the show as Billie, a character that couldn't be more different from who Adrienne really is. As a Halloween treat for our readers, I caught up with her to talk about her role in "The Crate," convention appearances, her work as an author, and more.

How did you first hear about Creepshow and what were your impressions of Stephen King's screenplay?

My agents sent me the script along with an offer to play "just call me Billie - everyone does". I read it and thought, oh no, this is way too bloody for me. At that time, I think the only horror film I'd ever »

Icons of Fright Interview With Zombie Killers: Elephant’S Graveyard Director B. Harrison Smith

12 February 2015 2:18 PM, PST | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

B. Harrison Smith isn’t a fan of how everything has been done regarding the zombie subgenre, and well, he’s right. There’s no danger, no character development, and more often than not, zombie films tend to give fans the same ol’ thing. Smith flat out refused to make a zombie film himself, until the idea of Zombie Killers: Elephant’S Graveyard came his way, and an opportunity to give fans a very character-driven, broad piece of zombie cinema came his way. Icons of Fright recently spoke to Smith about the zombie genre, his film and how important story is to a film. Read on!

How’s it going, Harrison?

Jerry Smith, great last name.

Yeah, I love it, I’m so plain.

Well, it’s a pleasure to talk to you, thanks for reaching out!

Not a problem. First of all, I just wanted to tell you that I really enjoyed your film, »

Exclusive: Felissa Rose on Her Intimidatingly Loving Character in Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard

12 February 2015 11:15 AM, PST | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Many horror fans met Felissa Rose for the first time one sinister summer at Camp Arawak back in the early 1980s. Though perhaps best known for playing Angela Baker in Robert Hiltzik’s 1983 cult classic, Sleepaway Camp, Rose has portrayed a wide variety of memorable characters in the horror genre since the turn of the century. Her latest role, a deeply religious survivor in the rural town of Elwood in the age of a zombie apocalypse, is certainly no exception.

With Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard now available on Blu-ray and DVD from Anchor Bay, we caught up with Rose to discuss her intense character, working with Billy Zane and Dee Wallace, Scream Factory’s Sleepaway Camp Collector’s Edition Blu-ray, and much more.

Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard Review

8 February 2015 7:27 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard is a film that’s marred by ambition, which is a shame, because director Harrison Smith does his best to diverge from generic zombie norms. Smith’s apocalyptic world is already established when we meet Billy Zane’s rag-tag team of undead assassins, and he answers the hard-hitting questions horror lovers have been asking for years – like do zombie bears really exist? Or zombie deer? Or zombie fish? Hell, we’ve already seen zombie beavers (Zombeavers) and zombie roadkill (Zombie Roadkill), so why not turn a whole host of woodland creatures into flesh-eating monsters? Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard isn’t Just about hilarious zombie animals though (no matter how hard we wish), as Smith chronicles a fight for survival that’s hampered by out-of-touch CGI, rough performances, and a jumpy story that fails to blend religious cultism with sweet zombie-killin’ action.

Review: Zombie Killers: Elephant’S Graveyard

3 February 2015 11:14 PM, PST | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

It’s very apparent from the first fifteen minutes that B. Harrison Smith’s Zombie Killers: Elephant’S Graveyard is not your typical zombie entry. While most films that fall within the undead subgenre tend to focus solely on special effects and not enough on story, it’s quite the opposite with Zk. While the special effects are just as impressive as any other zombie film, what really sets this one apart from the rest is just how character driven and story-driven it is, giving fans a fresh take on something that unfortunately has become stagnant, and offering fans something that at the end of the day, is incredibly easy to get on board with.

The scope of the film is what brings you in, with a small community living together and surrounded by walls and fences guarded by the “Zombie Killer”, a group of young kids led by Billy Zane’s Seiler character, »

Trailer, Mouthful: Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard

I think we can all appreciate the equal parts blunt, baffling title of Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard. I think we can all appreciate Billy Zane, too.  Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard is a post-apocalyptic, survival horror, zombie epidemic film from director B. Harrison Smith. In the film, starring Zane, Mischa Barton and genre favorites Dee Wallace
