Movie Review – Band Aid (2017)

15 June 2017 12:15 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Band Aid, 2017.

Written and Directed by Zoe Lister-Jones.

Starring Zoe Lister-Jones, Adam Pally, Colin Hanks, Brooklyn Decker, Jamie Chung, Erinn Hayes, and Fred Armisen.

Synopsis:

A couple who can’t stop fighting embark on a last-ditch effort to save their marriage: turning their fights into songs and starting a band.

It should go without saying, but music has a much more profound purpose than simply being labeled as mere entertainment. Lyrics especially can be meditative and allow a greater range of personal expression to cope during negative times. Case in point, we have Anna (played by Zoe Lister-Jones also producing, writing, and directing her debut feature) and Ben (typical supporting player Adam Pally getting an opportunity at a leading role) introduced to us mid fairly heated argument (about something as silly and pointless as cleaning dishes nonetheless). The words hurled at each other are often nasty and borderline offensive, initially »

Cam Newton Was the First to Wear a Bro-Romper and the Internet Is Throwing Him a Lot of Shade

17 May 2017 12:38 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

The rompers-for-men trend is currently taking the Internet by storm thanks to a Kickstarter”RompHim” campaign that went viral. (It generated 1.8 million Tweets!) The company, Aced Design, created a onesie that fits “guys of all shapes and sizes” with features that create “the most flattering contours possible” thanks to special adjustable waist tabs, zipper fly and deep front pockets. They had a goal to raise $10,000, and by Wednesday they’ve already raised over $125,000.

But Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton already knew this was a head-turning look — he rocked the men’s romper trend before it was even a trend at Coachella. »

"I think we're too broken to fix." IFC has debuted a fun trailer for the indie comedy Band Aid, the feature directorial debut of actress Zoe Lister-Jones. This charming, amusing comedy premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and is about a young husband-wife in Los Angeles who decide to turn their fights into songs, so they start a band together. Zoe Lister-Jones not only wrote & directed this, but she also stars as Anna. Adam Pally co-stars as Ben, with a cast including Fred Armisen, Jamie Chung, Brooklyn Decker, Hannah Simone, Jesse Williams, and Ravi Patel. This was one of my favorite films of Sundance this year, it's not only laugh-out-loud funny but it's brutally honest and heartfelt. I wrote in my review that Band Aid is a "fun film that is clearly made by passionate filmmakers who wanted to tell an honest story." Enjoy. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster »

The comedian and Grace and Frankie actress, 37, is partnering up with friend and Emily’s List Chief of Staff Kate Black to write The Badass Woman’s Guide to Running for Office and Changing the World — and the soon-to-be author tells People the inspiration behind the book was her frustration with the lack of gender representation in current politics.

Breastfeeding photography often depicts smiling mothers nursing calm, serene babies, but artist Leah DeVun wanted to explore a less picturesque part of the act that’s a reality for many moms.

In her “In the Age of Mechanical Reproduction” photo series, DeVun shows mothers using breast pumps in a matter-of-fact manner.

“We were just taking pictures of people doing what they do — it’s very straightforward,” the Brooklyn, New York-based artist and historian, 43, tells People. “That is kind of startling to us, because we’re not used to seeing women the way they are with these devices.”
