Jumanji’s title change is down to Jack Black

2 hours ago | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Following on from today’s release of two new trailers [which you can watch here], it has emerged Jack Black is responsible for the Jumanji sequel changing its title.

Originally going by the simple title Jumanji, the reboot of the classic family film starring Robin Williams is now known as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

It turns out that one of the film’s stars, Jack Black, is responsible for the switch up, as director Jake Kasdan revealed recently to USA Today. Apparently, on set, Black would sing Guns N’ Roses’ 1987 song ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ with Kasdan saying: “Jack said to me one day, ‘You know, we really should call this Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’”.

As they say, the rest is history.

A lot of people have a soft spot for the 90s adventure movie revolving around a creepy board game that unleashes horrors upon those that play it, and so anticipation is »

Two More Trailers for Jake Kasdan's 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle'

7 hours ago | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"We have to work together!" Sony has revealed two more official trailers (Us + international) for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which hits theaters in December just in time for the holidays. This new brand big screen take on the Jumanji board game stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan as glorified "avatar" versions of high school kids sucked into this game world. It also stars Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Rhys Darby, Madison Iseman, and Bobby Cannavale. As we all know, the twist in this is that it's now a video game not a board game, and the "adult" characters are just different versions of the teenagers stuck inside the game. This trailer is definitely action-packed and wild, but I have a feeling this is going to be way too cheesy to really enjoy it. As usual, the international trailer is much better. Here's the second two trailers »

Hilarious New Trailer For Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Flips The Tables

8 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Four high school friends are whisked on an epic, downright hilarious adventure in the second full trailer for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Sony Pictures and Jake Kasdan’s star-studded sequel that’s 22 years in the making.

Gunning for a new and fresh take on Chris Van Allsburg’s literary classic, Welcome to the Jungle drags the world of Jumanji into the present day, and essentially swaps out the old for the new. Gone are Alan Parrish – Robin Williams’ man-child will still be honored in Kasdan’s continuation – and the iconic board game, with Jumanji now taking the form of a dusty old video game that manages to suck our four heroes into a chaotic world of rampaging elephants and jungle traps. And that’s where our story begins.

But to keep audiences on their toes, Welcome to the Jungle takes a leaf out of Tron‘s book and places »

After what feels like an eternity of getting tidbits about Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, we now have two official trailers to obsess over. The sequel follows four high school students who stumble upon an old video-game console, which promptly sucks them inside the game's jungle setting and literally transforms them into the adult avatars they initially chose (played by Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black). Although the references to Robin Williams's Alan Parrish aren't in the trailers, tons of pretty great one-liners from Hart and Johnson are, so check them out. »

Where the first trailer forJumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was all about setting up the basics of the film and establishing some chemistry between the characters, today's brand new trailer for the film goes a little bit deeper into the story and highlights the other characters the heroes will encounter:

Yes there are plenty of goofy things in this trailer, but honestly, it looks like a lot of fun to me.  I'm not expecting Oscar greatness out of it, but there looks to be some genuine humor and action scenes to enjoy.  At the very least, I love the idea of how the game itself is changing things to continue sucking in players.  There's some neat »
