Looking for great stand-up on Netflix? We count down twenty-five highly recommended comedy specials on the streaming service...

MadeMan Channel’s ‘Speakeasy’ To Return With New Host Russell Peters

When Paul F. Tompkins announced his decision to step away from Speakeasy, we thought that would be the end for the chatty, laid-back web series. Instead, Defy Media’s MadeMan brand, which distributes the series, decided to retool with a new host. On November 16th, Speakeasy will return, with comedian Russell Peters replacing Tompkins at the helm.

Peters will begin his tenure as the Speakeasy host by turning the tables on Tompkins and interviewing him. Once the proverbial torch has been passed, Peters will move onto other guests, including Michael Shannon, Anthony Jeselnik and Constance Wu. Snippets from Peters’ first episode can be seen in a trailer released on the MadeMan channel (which is also currently hosting videos from its second annual Gentleman Up campaign).

We've reached a pretty important episode here, folks. We're going head to head. Tonight, our final ten will compete against each other for the title of Last Comic Standing, as well as some money and the other stuff that Anthony Jeselnik mentions every episode.

Anthony described that this round will include pairing off, and squaring off in a comedy dual. After each matchup, the judges will pick a winner, and only five will be left standing. Oof. Five? That seems slightly different than last season.

The first matchup is Michael Palascak versus Taylor Tomlinson. "I'm so close to being in the final five, I feel so nervous," Michael states. He's up first, so let's see how he does.

Roseanne refers to the show as a "comedy rumble," and Anthony Jeselnik tries to calm nerves down backstage by stating that he's "rooting for five of you!" Soon after, he introduces our judges -- Keenen, Roseanne, and Norm. Also, once again, Wanda Sykes will be mentoring.

Andi is nervous about which jokes to perform, and says she "doesn't know whether to continue with the mom stuff." As per usual, Wanda gives her a weirdly

'Last Comic Standing' Recap: Let's End These Invitationals
Tonight marks the end of the invitationals, which means that next week, we'll focus on the group of superstars that are in the running for the grand prize. Anthony Jeselnik starts by telling a lame joke about how he only cares about whose hosting (him!) before introducing our judges -- Roseanne, Norm, and Keenen.

From there, he dives right into our first comedian tonight, Lavar Walker. "I earned a doctorate degree in pharmacy," he starts. "Yet every morning I found myself behind a cash register ringing up cookies and juice... It's rough working the cash register, since often times, old men come to the register and don't know how to check out." He jokes about how the elderly often look at the debit machines like they're flying saucers. The joke is completed with a little physical comedy as well -- Lavar really has the "old man hunch" down.

Friends, we know how it goes -- the winner of Last Comic Standing will win $250,000, a sweet NBC development deal, and the amazing chance to say that they won season 9 of Last Comic Standing. As per usual, Anthony Jeselnik comes out and introduces Keenen Ivory Wayans, Roseanne Barr, and Norm McDonald. First up on the stage is Jamaican Drew Thomas. Is being Jamaican part of his act? Only time will tell!

'Last Comic Standing' Recap: The Girl Who Irritated Roseanne
Welcome to the second night of Invitationals! If we've learned anything from the first episode of Last Comic Standing, we know that every comic will bring something to the table, and Norm will be nothing but positive. Seriously, I await the moment where Norm just says "I totally hated your act." Maybe I'm speaking too soon. I mean, who knows what tonight will bring?

As we know, the ultimate winner of the show will be rewarded with $250,000, an NBC development deal, and the grand title. Hopefully they also throw a trophy in, or at least a plastic medal or something. You know -- something to put on display on the mantel.

Anthony Jeselnik takes the stage, and opens by saying that he's hosting solely because he couldn't say no to NBC. He then introduces our hosts -- Keenen Ivory Wayans, Roseanne Barr, and Norm McDonald.
