Susan Sarandon To Host Celebrity Charity Ping-Pong Ball

Susan Sarandon will join Mary-Louise Parker as host of a very special celebrity charity ping-pong tournament in New York later this month.

The Ping-Pong Ball will benefit Hope North – a 40-acre campus in northern Uganda where refugees, orphans and escaped child soldiers find a place to call home – and will feature live music from Rufus Wainwright, Josh Ritter, Jesse Malin, Martha Wainwright, Charlie Mars and Hope North founder Okello Kelo Sam. There will also be an auction hosted by Ryan Willard.

The host committee for the event includes Forest Whitaker, Chris Rock, Malaak Compton-Rock, Julianne Moore, Adrian Grenier and many more.

'Grey's Anatomy,' 'Tyler Perry's House of Payne' top 2011 NAACP Image Awards nominations

The 42 annual NAACP Image Awards nominations were announced Wednesday (Jan. 12) by actresses Kimberly Elisa and Sanaa Lathan, rapper 50 Cent, singer Smokey Robinson and actors Columbus Short and Affion Crockett at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA.

ABC and NBC led the TV categories with 18 nominations each, followed by CBS and the Lifetime Movie Network with 10 apiece. "Grey's Anatomy" and "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" tied at five noms apiece, while "For Colored Girls" topped all other movies or TV series with seven nominations. Tyler Perry's film and television projects had a combined total of 20 nominations.

'For Colored Girls,' Tyler Perry lead 2011 NAACP Image Awards nominees

The 42 annual NAACP Image Awards nominations were announced Wednesday (Jan. 12) by actresses Kimberly Elisa and Sanaa Lathan, rapper 50 Cent, singer Smokey Robinson and actors Columbus Short and Affion Crockett at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA.

The awards celebrate the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film. The awards will air live Friday, March 4 at 8 p.m. Et/Pt on Fox.

ABC and NBC led the TV categories with 18 nominations each, followed by CBS and the Lifetime Movie Network with 10 apiece. Lionsgate led the film categories with seven nominations and For Searchlight followed with six. "For Colored Girls" topped all other movies or TV series with seven nominations. Tyler Perry's film and television projects had a combined total of 20 nominations.

Change Generation: Marvelyn Brown, CEO, Marvelous Connections

At 19, Marvelyn Brown met her Prince Charming, then she was diagnosed as HIV positive. She decided to dedicate her life to raising awareness about this preventable virus. She started going from school to school to tell her story, then town to town, then state to state, then worldwide. Now 26, Marvelyn is CEO of Marvelous Connections, which houses her activist efforts, and she also serves as a consultant to other organizations on HIV/AIDS issues. She's spoken about her experiences in almost every state and around the world from Mexico to Rwanda. She also wrote a 2008 memoir, The Naked Truth: Young, Beautiful and (HIV) Positive, she's told her story on Oprah's couch, and even won a 2007 Emmy Award for an AIDS public service announcement. Marvelyn shared her remarkable story and passion, and told us why she's proud to be a member of this Change Generation.
