End of Watch, which isn’t hitting until September 28th, is an interesting, and somewhat strange choice for Jake Gyllenhaal. At least, it seems that way to me. A gritty, police-centric action-drama, the film follows two cops who piss off the wrong people, and find themselves on a drug cartel’s hit list.
The trailer shows some potential, but it’s hard to tell how well this one is going to go over, especially considering the camera stylings this one is going with, which some may find too gimmicky by now. Whatever you may think, you aren’t likely to see many trailers that go through more rounds of ammunition. Take a look and let me know what you think.
End Of Watch stars Academy Award® nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as young Los Angeles police officers Taylor and Zavala as they patrol the city’s meanest streets of south central Los Angeles. »

The first trailer for the rookie cop drama End of Watch is here, and it stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as beat cop partners who team up to take down a drug cartel in Los Angeles. It’s not the story that leaves a lasting impression in this trailer; it’s the camerawork – on video [...]

Here's the trailer for the forthcoming gritty cop thriller End of Watch, a movie I knew nothing about until I watched the trailer. Now, I know everything about it. And, soon, you will too!
End of Watch, from gritty cop thriller specialist David Ayer (Training Day, Street Kings, etc.), appears to be the big-screen action movie answer to TNT's Southland.
According to the official synopsis, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña star as Los Angeles police officers who "patrol the city’s meanest streets of south central Los Angeles." Cavalier cowboys in blue, these cops kick ass and take names on a daily basis. Then, they run afoul of a drug cartel and end up with a price on their head. But I guess that's what happens when you patrol the city's meanest streets, brother.
The producers promise that End of Watch is a "powerful story of family, friendship, love, honor and courage. »

David Ayer seems to enjoy exploring stories of cops, bad guys, life on the street and its inherent dangers. His latest patrol with the boys in blue, End Of Watch, finds Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena as two Lapd cops who take pride in their work and friendship, but one day see their lives come under even more threat than usual. The first trailer is online via Yahoo and can be watched below.Watch, which blends some of the first-person shooting techniques seen in found footage films without actually committing to the genre, follows Taylor (Gyllenhaal) and Zavala (Pena), long time officers and best pals as they hit the streets to fight crime. They have a reputation as two of the rising stars of their division, and also have happy family lives, with Taylor getting married to Janet (Anna Kendrick) and Zavala becoming a father with his wife (Natalie Martinez »

Co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña in the leads, End of Watch sees David Ayer (Street Kings, writer of Training Day) return behind the camera for the third time, directing from his own script, and is promising to be one of the best crime-dramas of the year.
We got an awesome first look at the film last year when the first images surfaced, and now the film’s first trailer and promo poster have debuted through Yahoo Movies, and needless to say, it’s looking epic.
“A powerful story of family, friendship, love, honor and courage, End Of Watch stars Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as young Los Angeles police officers Taylor and Zavala as they patrol the city’s meanest streets of south central Los Angeles.
Giving the story a gripping, first-person immediacy, the action unfolds entirely through footage from the handheld HD cameras of the police officers, »

The first trailer for the cop-thriller End of Watch has gone online. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as a couple of uniformed officers who overstep their bounds when they decide to investigate a drug cartel and end up becoming targets. Writer-director David Ayer, who previously wrote Training Day, Dark Blue, S.W.A.T., and directed Street Kings, appears to be staying firmly in his comfort zone but now he's gone the overused found-footage route. Steve was excited by what he saw when he visited the set, but this trailer has me waiting to be convinced. Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film also stars Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera, Frank Grillo, and Natalie Martinez. End of Watch opens September 28th. Click over to Yahoo! Movies to see the trailer in HD. The first trailer for Barry Battles's The Baytown Disco has debuted. A release date hasn't been set yet, but you can take a look at the first footage from this comedy starring Billy Bob Thornton and Eva Longoria.
The Baytown Disco Trailer
The rousing rebel spirit of a family of Southern thugs takes off at breakneck speed in The Baytown Disco - a wickedly playful, high-velocity action-comedy in which three infamously ruthless Alabama brothers find themselves on the wrong side of crooked cops, relentless Feds, mad mobsters, road pirates, tomahawk-wielding bikers, tricky femme fatales and an unforgettable cast of characters as colorful as they are lethal when they finally try to do a single good deed.
Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton and Golden Globe winner Eva Longoria headline this wildly explosive, yet ultimately moving, tale of honor breaking out among thieves with madcap results. It all starts when »

The first trailer has jumped online for Billy Bob Thornton-starrer, The Baytown Disco. A self-professed "Southern-fried whip-ass extravaganza," The Baytown Disco features a trio of ruthless outlaw brothers who fall into helping a damsel in distress (Eva Longoria). She hires them to help return her godson (Thomas Brodie Sangster), who has been kidnapped by her nefarious ex-husband, Rob (Thornton). While I wasn't exactly sold on the synopsis and images alone, the new trailer hits all the right banjo strings (and the femme fatales certainly do not hurt). Directed by Barry Battles, The Baytown Disco also stars Clayne Crawford, Michael Rapaport, Daniel Cudmore, Travis Fimmel, Andre Braugher and Paul Wesley. Hit the jump for the trailer and official synopsis, and to watch the original short that inspired the feature-length film. Check out the trailer and the synopsis that follows (as well as some of the lovely femme fatales: Serinda Swan, »

After the box office success of Joe Carnahan's "The Grey" starring Liam Neeson, it looks like distribution shingle Open Road Films has a bit of cash to splash now reportedly in final negotiations to acquire David Ayer's third directorial effort in cop-drama "End Of Watch."
The film teams Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena together as "two longtime Lapd partners confronting marriage, love, fatherhood and the harsh realities of the Los Angeles streets" with Anna Kendrick and Natalie Martinez playing their respective love interests. Frank Grillo, America Ferrera, Cody Horn and David Harbour also co-star. Perhaps the most interesting development through the film's production has been the news of Pov-style camerawork (evidenced in this set photo from Collider) which will apparently be utilized which would see action "unfold entirely through footage from the handheld HD cameras of the police officers, gang members, surveillance cameras, and citizens caught in the line of fire. »

Word on David Ayer‘s End of Watch has been all but non-existent in the five-plus months since a first look emerged online — now, however, we have some real news. As Deadline reports, Open Road has acquired the cop drama for somewhere in the range of $2 million — not counting a $20 million P & A plan — and is planning a wide release for later in the year. (Any future release, technically speaking, is “later in the year,” but I’m thinking a late summer or early fall opening for this one. Don’t take my word for it.)
The cop drama, led by Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña — who are supported by Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera, Natalie Martinez, Cody Horn, and Frank Grillo — isn’t just any cop drama, but instead sounds like a hybrid between the found footage genre and a typical drama. Many scenes taking a camera’s vantage point, »
