The theory goes that Steve Harrington is Jean-Ralphio’s father given the timelines of the respective series.

Newswire: Bill Hader is playing Alpha 5 in the Power Rangers movie

22 September 2016 6:01 PM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

The new Power Rangers movie continues to summon some big-name help for its supporting cast, with Entertainment Weekly reporting that Bill Hader will be playing aye-yi-yi-prone helper robot Alpha 5 in the upcoming film. Hader joins a cast that includes Bryan Cranston as giant floating head Zordon, Elizabeth Banks as the villainous Rita Repulsa, and a cast of relative newcomers as the Rangers themselves.

The high-pitched, often bumbling Alpha served as comic relief on the original series, where he was voiced by Invader Zim’s Richard Horvitz, and physically played by a number of actors, including Romy J. Sharf and Andy Sellner. Meanwhile, Hader—whose Documentary Now! is currently airing on IFC— is no stranger to giving voice to robotic individuals: along with Ben Schwartz, he provided the vocalizations for beloved ball-droid Bb-8 in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Ben Schwartz gave us the ‘Stranger Things’/‘Parks and Rec’ crossover we’ve been waiting for

20 September 2016 4:05 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Father and child reunion: Steve Harrington just met up with the man who’s obviously his son from the future, Jean-Ralphio. Icymi, HitFix’s sister site Uproxx theorized earlier this summer that Steve, Nancy’s beau in Stranger Things, is the father of Parks and Recreation’s Jean-Ralphio. A couple weeks later, Jean-Ralphio, a.k.a. his real-world alter-ego Ben Schwartz, confirmed the theory is true. Air tight logic. Stranger Things' Steve Finally Meets His 'Son,' Parks and Rec's Jean-Ralphio

20 September 2016 2:37 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Stranger Things is truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Viewers of the hit Netflix sci-fi series have emphatically pointed out that Joe Keery — who plays Steve, the jerk with a heart of gold — bears an eery resemblance to Jean-Ralphio, Ben Schwartz’s character from Parks and Recreation. In fact, their similarities have even prompted fans to (jokingly) speculate that Steve could actually be Jean-Ralphio’s father, since Stranger Things is set in the early 1980s.

‘The Intervention’ Is The Perfect Indie To Watch On VOD This Labor Day Weekend — IndieWire On Demand

Editor’s Note: Click here for more information about the indie films available from Movies on Demand.

Labor Day weekend is a time for last-minute relaxation, and what better way to do so than with an irresistible ensemble comedy? That’s why Clea DuVall’s directorial debut “The Intervention” is the perfect indie to watch on VOD this holiday weekend. Featuring one of the year’s strongest indie ensembles — including Melanie Lynskey, Cobie Smulders, Natasha Lyonne, Jason Ritter, Vincent Piazza and Ben Schwartz — “The Intervention” is a clever riff on “The Big Chill,” centering on a weekend gateway among four couples that takes a sharp turn when it’s revealed the trip is really an intervention on one of their marriages.

Intelligently written to uplift cliches left and right, and featuring a standout Lynskey who won a special Jury Prize for acting at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, »

Movie Review – The Intervention (2016)

29 August 2016 1:00 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The Intervention, 2016.

Written and Directed by by Clea DuVall.

Starring Melanie Lynskey, Clea DuVall, Natasha Lyonne, Cobie Smulders, Vincent Piazza, Ben Schwartz, Jason Ritter, and Alia Shawkat.

Synopsis:

Concerned that her friends’ marriage is toxic, Annie (Melanie Lynskey) devises a plan to get the rest of their circle together to orchestrate an intervention.

Peter (Vincent Piazza) and Ruby (Cobie Smulders) are the wedded couple in question. Their circle of unmarried [but qualified] chums include Annie’s fiancée, Matt (Jason Ritter), Ruby’s sister, Jessie (Clea DuVall), and Peter’s best friend, Jack (Ben Schwartz).

That it takes so long for Annie and her recruits to find the right words to say what they’re attempting may be because of what they’re asking.  Conventional interventions usually seek an outcome of healing and recovery. This one wants to skip over the “working on it” stage and head straight to divorce. A nod to »
