- Born April 9th, 1976 in Dallas, Texas, and raised in Texarkana, Texas. John Gray cut his teeth on horror films of the 70s and 80s, and first used his grandfather's 8mm camera at age 9. Gray spent the 1980s idolizing his favorite directors John Carpenter, Lucio Fulci, Dario Argento, Tobe Hooper, and Wes Craven and working on films as an amateur director. By the time Gray turned 13, he had shot over 60 short and feature length films with his brother Spencer in the backwoods of Texarkana, TX. Their first film, (a knock of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre) featured a chainsaw wielding family, in which John played the father and cook (as well as co-director). All but one of the films were horror themed, the other a post-apocalyptic feature starring John's brother Spencer as "Daremo", the lone swordsman of a distant future overrun with zombies, cannibals, Ninja's, and a hockey masked leader very similar to The Road Warrior. Gray then decided to take his love of horror and apply it to the digital age. In 1997, he joined forces with Rich Carlin and Petch Lucas on the horror web-site www.pitofhorror.com and www.gutsandgory.com. The sites (a labor of love) went from a few hundred thousand hits per year to over 4 million a month by 2004. In 2000 Gray co-wrote the upcoming slasher film "Job", again with his brother Spencer. They wrote the feature together at work and traded script ideas via email. Shopping the film around the convention circuit for almost 6 years, they finally landed a production deal and the dream became a reality. The film (scheduled to be released in 2008), is a brutal slasher film about a detective (Michael Pare) that unearths some dark secrets while investigating the disappearance of several priests who run a remote summer camp for boys. John Gray's intention has always been to become a working feature film director... and now, after many years of hard work... that dream is finally coming true.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Gray Matter Films
