First Plot Details Released For Cloudy 2: Revenge Of The Leftovers

22 August 2012 11:12 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Are Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs fans ready for another heaping helping of animated tomfoolery? /Film is reporting the first plot details have surfaced for Cody Cameron and Kris Pearns’ upcoming sequel Cloudy 2: Revenge Of The Leftovers, along with fresh casting updates.

Here’s an expanded synopsis regarding the new adventures that await inventor Flint Lockwood:

Live Corp has been charged with cleaning up the island after Flint’s contraption that turned water into food led to a mess of huge pancakes, pizza slices and, of course, meatballs garnishing the pulverized town in the original film. But in the sequel, the machine is still sputtering away somewhere — only now it’s pumping out living pickles, a walking, gibberish-talking strawberry named Barry, and creatures like the giant, french-fry-legged bacon cheesespider, which lords over the abandon town like a massive cholesterol-spiking tarantula.

Bill Hader will voice our main character Flint once again, »

Bevy of Details on ‘Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers’ and First Logo

21 August 2012 9:59 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

I wouldn’t think so many pre-release details could even exist for Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers — it seems like a fairly straightforward venture from a storytelling standpoint, really — but here we have EW to defy expectations. They went behind-the-scenes of Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn‘s follow-up to the 2009 hit, using that opportunity to learn how, exactly, you make a sequel to that movie about food destroying a town. (Hint: more food.)

We had been told this sequel followed the original protagonist, Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader), who teams with his friends (Anna Faris and Andy Samberg) as they’re “forced to leave their town of Swallow Falls, but must return when sentient food beasts have overrun the island.” Their update confirms as much, with the original movie’s food (it’s not often you get to type this) “taking on the form of various voracious living beasts such as watermelephants, »

Interview: Phil Lord and Chris Miller Talk 21 Jump Street and the Lego Movie as ‘Inception for Kids’

12 July 2012 4:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

To celebrate the release of 21 Jump Street on DVD and Blu-ray, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to speak to the directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, about the film and their upcoming projects.

Touching on everything from Channing Tatum’s love for improvising stunts to Tom Selleck’s moustache, it’s fair to say our interview covered rather a lot of ground! Every inch as charming and entertaining as you’d expect, the pair gave a brilliant insight into the funniest film of the year.

HeyUGuys: Congratulations to you both for delivering the best comedy we’ve had this year.

Chris: That’s crazy – we’ll take that!

You must have absolutely jumped at the chance to direct a script from Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall. After focusing so much on animation, how did you end up getting the job?

Phil: We had Michael Bacall’s script »

Bassett will play the head of the Secret Service. Kristen Schaal Will Lend Her Voice to Cloudy 2

25 June 2012 10:28 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Sony selected some top-notch yet underrated voice talents for 2009′s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, including Bill Hader, Anna Faris and Andy Samberg. Fortunately, all three will return for the sequel, and The Hollywood Reporter has learned television star Kristen Schaal will join them.

Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers will be directed by Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn, and according to a recently discovered plot synopsis, will take us back to Swallow Falls to the aftermath of Flint Lockwood’s massive food storm, where sentient food beasts have run amok.

No details on Schaal’s character yet, but it’s supposedly an orangutan.

Schaal has developed an extensive voice acting resume after hitting the map on HBO’s The Flight of the Conchords. She voiced Trixie the Triceratops in Toy Story 3 and has a regular voice role on Fox’s Bob’s Burgers among many guest spots.

Marilyn Manson Heads To 'Californication'; Kristin Schaal Voices 'Cloudy 2'; Cobie Smulders Finds 'Safe Haven' & Christopher Meloni Joins 'They Came Together'

25 June 2012 7:20 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

(Former) shock rocker (is he all that shocking anymore?) Marilyn Manson seems to be enjoying this whole acting thing. He's done bit parts here and there over the years ("Party Monster" and "Jawbreaker" among them), but it seems he's taking a bigger step toward movie roles. He already has a stint in Quentin Dupieux's "Wrong Cops" and how he's headed to cable. Brian Warner will stretch his wings playing himself in a guest spot on Showtime's "Californication" starring David Duchovny. Production on the series is now underway and you can see the longawaited Manson/Duchovny pairing in 2013 on the seventh season's seventh episode. [THR]

Revenge of the weekend leftovers indeed. Comedianne Kristen Schaal,  a former correspondent on "The Daily Show," best known for roles on "Flight Of The Conchords," and having recently completed a story arc on  "30 Rock," is set to voice a character in Sony Pictures Animation’s sequel »

Michael K. Williams Next for ‘Twelve Years a Slave’; Kristen Schall In ‘Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers’

25 June 2012 7:00 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

While Michael K. Williams is, on the whole, a pretty tremendous actor, none of his post-Wire gigs have provided a real chance to break whatever… “mold” was instilled from about six years of playing Omar Little. If he does, in fact, need some kind of dividing point from ensuing, similar roles as a gangster (Boardwalk Empire) or, simply, an intimidating authority figure (Community) — even though I think he’s probably doing just fine — a period piece about the horrors of slavery ought to do the trick.

Deadline has named Williams as next in line for Twelve Years a Slave, the wildly-anticipated third film from Steve McQueen; this role — probably of a smaller sort, given the relative timing — will have him play a “mutinous slave” named Robert. There’s nothing concrete past that simple name and brief moniker, but any sane person doesn’t need more to know this is some fantastic news. »

105 movie sequels currently in the works

15 March 2012 2:59 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Hollywood loves its sequels, and we’ve got the proof here. Meet the 105 sequels at various stages of production, and a further 17 that seem to have died.

It’s been nearly five years since we started doing our annual round-ups of the current movie sequels that are in the works, and this year marks the longest list of all. Furthermore, what the 105 we've rounded up here doesn’t include are the projects that we suspect might have been lost to development hell, which we’ve detailed down at the bottom. Hollywood does love its follow-ups.

The projects that we do talk about here each have some chance of happening, and we’ve done a release date cut off of films due after October 2012 at the earliest. Thus, this summer’s collection of sequels – including The Dark Knight Rises, Madagascar 3, Ice Age 4, G.I. Joe 2, The Expendables 2, American Pie: The Reunion, »

‘RoboCop’ and ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’ Sequel Get Release Dates

9 March 2012 5:06 PM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

BoxOfficeMojo has swooped in and dropped release dates for two of Sony’s pending, hopeful blockbusters — as the headline already gave away, they’re RoboCop and Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers. The first of those will mechanically stomp its way into theaters on August 9th, 2013, with Jose Padilha at the helm and Joel Kinnaman underneath all that mechanical armor. (This date has come to light only four days after Sony partnered up with MGM to distribute the film. Timely, fitting, and responsible. I like it.)

Then there’s the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs sequel; on that front, we can look forward to some delicious chaos on December 20th, 2013. That — along with director credits for Cody Cameron & Kris Pearn, and writing duties on the part of John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein (Horrible Bosses) — would count as one of the few things we actually know about the film.
