‘Pretty Little Liars’ Season 7: Marlene King Talks Returning Characters, Potential Deaths and a Marriage Proposal

21 June 2016 9:15 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Pretty Little Liars” kicks off its seventh — and possibly final — season on Tuesday night, and one big question is on the Liars’ minds: is Hanna alive?

“The premiere episode starts with an extremely fast-ticking clock. The clock is ticking and we find out by the end of Act 1 if Hanna is dead or alive, and what her condition is — and it is very disturbing,” “Pretty Little Liars” creator Marlene King tells Variety of Ashley Benson’s character, who was kidnapped and seen unconscious in the final moments of Season 6 this spring.

Whether on not Hanna makes it out alive, King promises that the body count is higher than ever before this season.

“The stakes are the highest they’ve ever been in Rosewood, regarding the Liars and A.D./Uber A,” she says. “Because of that, there are a lot of consequences and fatalities.”

‘Pretty Little Liars’: Mary Drake Confesses ‘We Should Be Deeply Worried for All the Liars, Particularly Hanna’

16 March 2016 3:47 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

There’s a new villain in Rosewood, and she looks awfully familiar.

Mary Drake (Andrea Parker) was revealed to be the identical twin of Mrs. Dilaurentis on “Pretty Little Liars” Season 6B finale — and there’s a major twist. Not only is Mrs. D’s twin Charles/Charlotte’s (Vanessa Ray) birth mother, but she’s also been teaming up with the husband of Alison (Sasha Pieterse), Dr. Elliot Rollins (Huw Colliins), who is clearly not who he seems to be.

“We know that Elliot loved Charlotte deeply and obviously would do anything for her, including marrying her cousin Alison under the guise of actually loving her,” Parker tells Variety. “It’s obvious that he is up to something and that he is working with Mary — and perhaps A.D. who is now Uber A, but I’m not sure how much I can tell you about what their motives are. »

Pretty Little Liars: Huw Collins Says Alison Was Always 'a Pawn' in the New A's Game

16 March 2016 12:00 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

The honeymoon period is definitely over for Alison Dilaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) on Pretty Little Liars. Spoiler Alert: Stop reading now if you haven't seen this week's episode. Creator I. Marlene King made good on her tease about a twin twist: The late "Big A" Charlotte (Vanessa Ray) was actually Mrs. Dilaurentis' (Andrea Parker) adopted daughter, and the biological daughter of her secret sister Mary Drake, who was also institutionalized at Radley Sanitarium. So that makes Charlotte the cousin of Ali and Jason (Drew Van Acker), which in turn makes their college fling while Charlotte was masquerading as CeCe slightly less incestuous. »

Pretty Little Liars Sneak Peek: Sparks Fly Between Hanna and Caleb

12 February 2016 6:00 AM, PST | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Is there hope for Haleb? In a sneak peek at next week's episode of Pretty Little Liars exclusive to People, Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) discuss the new cyber bully in Rosewood who's using emojis to blackmail the Liars into solving CeCe's (Vanessa Ray) murder. Hanna bristles at Caleb referring to the bad guy as "A," but he assures her they're not regressing back to their high school ways. "It's not the same person, but they want the same thing," he says. "They want to make you miserable. But this time, you are smarter and you're stronger, and »

Pll Sneak Peek: The Liars Confront Aria After Charlotte's Death

19 January 2016 10:20 AM, PST | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

It may be time for amateur Pretty Little Liars sleuths to dust off their "Aria Is A" case files. In a photo from Tuesday night's episode shared exclusively with People, Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) seem stern facing off with Aria (Lucy Hale), and the episode description isn't doing Rosewood High's edgiest alumna any favors. "A restless Aria starts to look suspicious as she heads back to Boston a little too quickly," according to Freeform. "But could Aria really be the one behind this? As Spencer, Emily and Hanna find themselves back in familiar territory, »

Pretty Little Liars Season 6B Review

13 January 2016 7:41 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

“Of Late I Think Of Rosewood,” the premiere episode of the second half of Pretty Little Liars’ sixth season, doesn’t start with a quote from The Godfather: Part III, but it may as well have. After five, peaceful A-less years, Hanna (Ashley Benson), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Aria (Lucy Hale) are dragged back to Rosewood by Alison (Sasha Pieterse), who seeks their help in getting Charlotte Dilaurentis (Vanessa Ray) – or A, the girls’ long-time tormentor – released from prison.

The episode, save from a couple of on-brand twists and turns, is fairly slow for a season opener of Pll, a show which has never shied away from making big splashes. With this flash forward, the thrill of seasons past seems to be replaced with a subtler, palpable feeling of dread – dread of being back in Rosewood, dread of the bad things the Liars know are yet to come. »

‘Pretty Little Liars’ Premiere: Clues on Uber A, Who’s Dead in Season 6B

12 January 2016 7:13 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Pretty Little Liars” returns Tuesday night with its much-anticipated five-year time jump on the newly-rebranded Freeform network, introducing avid fans to an all-new world when the Liars return to Rosewood.

The new episodes will bring about new romances, new characters and a new baddie — the ultimate villain in “Uber A,” or as creator Marlene King calls it, “what we have been waiting for.”

“When they get together, they realize there are things about each other that they don’t know, but also once they’re together in Rosewood, very familiar old habits seem to fall on them. It’s easy to fall back into old habits,” King told Variety, teasing what’s to come between the girls in the new episodes.

King also teased the new love interests for the Liars (and the boys of Rosewood), including an update on Emison, Ezria and Hanna’s engagement. For more on the “Pll” romances of Season 6B, »

Pretty Little Liars” returns on Jan. 12 and it’s a whole new world in Rosewood, as the show kicks off after a five-year time jump.

The liars are brought back to Rosewood in the new episodes, after Alison (Sasha Pieterse) asks the girls to return to town for Charlotte’s (Vanessa Ray) court hearing. Emily (Shay Mitchell) returns to her old stomping grounds, arriving at her parents’ home after her father’s death, which occurred sometime over the past five years.

In the exclusive clip (above) Emily — who dropped out of Pepperdine University after her father died, and has been living in California working as a bartender, since viewers last saw her — visits her mother and asks about Greg, who it seems, is safe to assume is her mom’s new boyfriend.

“We’re taking a little break. … It was just time for a break,” Ms. Fields says, clearly upsetting Emily, »
